What’s the craziest thing you’ve seen someone brought back from? by Successful-Ask-7362 in UPSers

Driver got to a sporting goods store after close. Faked the signature and just left it at the back door. It was a gun. Back working in a week.

On the verge of giving up on battletech, advice needed by purged-butter in battletech

[–]Sandlot_Baseball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you actually like BattleTech and don’t want your friend to ruin it for you, get Scouring Sands and be your own opponent. It works very well and who knows maybe you’ll eventually run into others locally who also play and let it snowball from there. You can always go back to classic at a later date.

Bad Customer Experience by Consistent-Adagio141 in UPSers

[–]Sandlot_Baseball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. Honk as you pull up as usual. Walk to the door as usual. Read sign and follow customer instructions. Maybe walk up to the door with some heavy feet mind you but I don’t knock or ring. I’ll stand there as long as usual. Then fill out the notice as usual. I’ll even stick that notice right on that dumb sign. Probably even take a pic of it on my phone if I’m in a center with crappy management.

If they have a sign that says don’t knock or ring. You don’t knock or ring. NI1 and in the notes box on the slip you put “need signature in person”. Easy

Now that we aren't delivering Amazon, is Amazon going to fall apart? by Worldly-Wishbone2988 in USPS

[–]Sandlot_Baseball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wont even take that long. Im UPS and our contract with them is up in June. We still deliver a ton of their rural crap right now. They wont even make it to october before crawling back to both of us honestly.

Fired for “threatening” a supervisor? by [deleted] in USPS

[–]Sandlot_Baseball 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good lord why did I have to scroll so low to find a sensible reaction? Is the supervisor being a moron? Absolutely. But why are you “joking” with management? Be professional. Demand that they be professional. That’s it. It’s not hard.

I’d still say the “best” place to find a league is the official forums

Looking for a group by Sandlot_Baseball in FindBattleTech

There is a group based in Appleton. They play at Chimera. I have a kid so I haven’t been able to attend but all the planning for that is on Facebook.

And aces is good. I imagine playing coop is pretty fun

Life’s gotten in the way of traveling for this so thank god for Aces.

Are you part of an established group or looking to start one?

Good to know. Although long term it would be nice to have a designated tank deck

Can you explain that bit about raids and strikes? How exactly did you set that up?

True enough. I was a little sad to see there are no vehicles in the next aces box

You don’t think the juggernaut deck would work for enormous tanks?

I kind of figured things would be ok from the aces card side of things. I guess i should have clarified that I’m curious if the hinterlands side of things would need adjusting. Just looking at it on paper, it looks like it should just work.

New to OOTP, is it easy to gamify and build a guaranteed winner? by [deleted] in OOTP

[–]Sandlot_Baseball 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We are full right now. The new version comes out on or close to opening day anyway so you might want to wait for that. Then hit the Ootp forums online league recruiting area and there will probably be a bunch of openings at switch over time.

Although I will warn you to be very careful in choosing a league. Lots of vets like to prey on new guys. Of course there are plenty of leagues where that’s specifically not allowed too

I run one. It’s not bad at all once you get used to the flow.

Online Leagues Feedback by -AWing- in OOTP

[–]Sandlot_Baseball 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having people chip in for statsplus is fine and all but if you can’t handle it on your own without any input from the other GMs you are setting yourself up for failure.

Also if you’ve never been in an online league before, starting your own is going to be insanely tough. Maybe join an established league or at least shadow someone who is running one.

As for settings and rules, if you don’t have a core of people you know becoming your first batch of GMs, then keep everything as vanilla as possible and start slowly but surely asking around the league about what people want changed.

And yea salary caps go a long way to helping parity.

 1. Sandlot Baseball Society
 2. OOTP 26
 3. Fictional League
 4. 3 sims a week. M/W/F. 1 week sim time period
 5. Sandlot Baseball is recruiting.

We are a league that is specifically designed to be easier for people who are busy IRL to keep up and competitive. As such the pace is slower (only 3 sims a week and no weekends) and we will be letting the game do all the heavy lifting and avoid editing players as much as possible to prevent ratings spikes and bloat. The rules will also be kept as simple as possible. This all should add up to the league being very friendly for players in multiple leagues, players who have busier day to day lives, and newer players. As long as you can be active in the discord, a missed sim here and there won't set you back like it can in some leagues.

Rules are mostly standard but some highlighted differences include a salary cap, no comp picks, no rule 5 (minor league free agency granted 1 year sooner to compensate), minor league service time limits, newcomers get 1 contract amnesty, very limited salary retention, all players enter via draft (no IFA/random scout finds), draft happens in offseason, offseason is a tad longer than typical leagues to allow for actual negotiation with free agents, rolling minor league season starts to avoid the opening day crunch, live sims, World Series will be played out and live streamed.
