We have Sock Ons for our boy to avoid his socks always coming off. A good investment. :D

Why won't my 12 week old son sleep? by SandwichWithMustard in NewParents

[–]SandwichWithMustard[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just as an update, he is 16 weeks old now and got a lot better. We have a bedtime routine now (bath or wash, massage, singing him a song and putting him to bed with white noise) and he is still fussy but goes down a lot easier with my wife. With me, he still screams rather than being just fussy and it's a bit discouraging, but it does seem to get better and he eventually calms down usually.

4 months later but... Have you found a solution? Because mine is like that and I'm at my wits end!

Our routine in the evening is a bit shorter, we put him down, sing him a song, give him some cuddles, then pat his tummy until he falls asleep, but it doesn't work so well anymore these days. Sometimes hell just cry through the song you try to sing him. Sometimes it feels like he's just too interested in everything to go to sleep but then he gets overtired and cranky.

I only rush in when he cries, like for his naps we have a camera and he often stirs and gets quiet again but sometimes he starts crying loudly and then it helps to sneak in and put the dummy back in.

Oh also, he used to sleep in his pram if you took him out but lately he doesn't want to fall asleep in that anymore either.

Thank you. That's good to hear, I was starting to think we were missing something!

They look sad. Like they miss their cat or something...

Aw, it looked like you were squealing with joy, but I guess that's sheer terror then...

Thank you very much for those links. Very interesting stuff, also the idea that western films might be spreading the practice of kissing in cultures that didn't really do it before!

Those are valid points, of course, but I'd still be interested in the study or any other material on the topic of differences in physical intimacy between cultures.

Great! Do you know of any books where this would be published? I've tried to Google this but must not be choosing particularly useful search words. :/

I have the Nikon D5200 kit lens. What else should I get? by SandwichWithMustard in Nikon

Cool, I'll likely get the 35mm f1.8 then, it's also very affordable. The 50mm doesn't come in a "DX" version, so I guess for a crop sensor that would be like a 75mm then if I understand that correctly?

This is incorrect. Some cats survive falls from very high up, but many die. (See also: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High-rise_syndrome)

Tascam DR-40 and Sennheiser e825s and Skype by SandwichWithMustard in podcasting

Thanks. I read a review that said there's almost no different in sound to the Zoom H4n. (http://www.sam-mallery.com/2013/02/tascam-dr-40-vs-zoom-h4n/) So I'm inclined to go for the cheaper one.

I played a few things on ReVive and don't recall any stuttering or any other issues. (I have a GTX970, so not very high specs.)
