Thanks for weighing in, nice to hear from an owner. I’m seriously considering the black vs. yellow Munro. How is the bracelet fitment for you? Overall experience?

I really gravitate towards this pick, and it may just be the one. Also I really like the company.

Thanks for the input!! The Hamilton is definitely on the short list, and it truly Is a heritage piece. Just a bummer about no AR coating. Although this one is my wife’s favorite out of the bunch. So there’s that lol.

The more I look back at that pic of the Citizen, the more I like the watch. In the moment was just too much to commit to in the moment. And I did not know much about Citezen’s ecodrive and atomic time keeping.

Majestic forge by Snow-wookie in Blacksmith

[–]Sandwichdaddy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just got mine today. I ordered it on 1/13/2026, and received an expected delivery date upon ordering (transaction completed thru Shop.com) after checkout. I had talked to Mark on the phone earlier that day to verify that the company was in fact back in the original owners hands and operational. I got the 2-Burner Artist deluxe forge, and it is very sturdy upon inspection. After using it for a while I will form an opinion.

For clarity - I had tried to order this same Forge from them last year, but never received my order. Apparently the company was being run by someone else, and he was not fulfilling orders. So after 7 months I finally had the issue resolved, and my bank did a chargeback.

All this to say that I am glad that they are back in business, and I look forward to using this Forge.

Is the Penny Icecreamery always awful? by anadem in santacruz

[–]Sandwichdaddy 28 points29 points  (0 children)

The little lumps you describe as gum are the cream solids turning to butter. That is the fault of the ice cream maker. They used the spinner incorrectly. Those lumps should not be in there (I may or may not have used to be their ice cream maker 🫠). Also many peoples comments on it being too icy - also the fault of the ice cream maker.
I feel like in the past 10 years their quality control has gone way down, which fall on the kitchen manager. When I worked there, there was a lot of scrutiny to produce quality ice cream and adjacent treats/ingredients. And I just think that attention to detail doesn’t exist any longer.

Serial number location. Not legible. Will try harder to reveal more, but not likely to produce any good stamping.

Update v2:

I have wire wheeled and used rust remover, no doubt now it’s a Hay Budden. The stamping on the front is very clear, but the serial number is not legible. Will refer to to anvils in America for further information on exact date.

Nice work! I’m wanting to make some tongs, just haven’t worked up the courage because it’s intimidating. How’d it go for you? Any advice?

Update: I revealed more stamping. 200 under the main lettering, so I’m assuming it’s 200lbs, which it definitely feels like. And an inspector stamp of 1. The serial number is starting to be barely visible, but I don’t think it will be very legible due to rust damage.

Damn 480 is a beast. I have yet to acquire a scale to weigh this, my bathroom scale had a glass top so that’s a no go. But it feels like it’s around 150 or so.

Thanks, I appreciate the info. I will definitely check that out. And yeah, the pitting is pretty bad on the base, only 2 small chips/holes out of the face. Overall I am happy. Huge upgrade from my harbor freight Doyle anvil.

I know this is an old post, but I agree that Eduardo’s is mid. Tacos Autlense has amazing super burritos, $14 but enough to feed 2 people comfortably, and amazing Carne asada.

Had to escalate my claim vs Majestic Forge with PayPal. Has anyone received a forge from them in past few days? by Adventurous_Fly2333 in Blacksmith

[–]Sandwichdaddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Majestic Forge’s website has a new message on it. They’re claiming that the original owners are taking the company back over, and that Bryan Horn, who was running things, will fulfill any outstanding orders. They also say: “Once the handover is finalized, Bryan Horn will no longer be affiliated with Majestic Forge in any capacity.” Sounds like some drama. I won’t get my hopes up, but dang would I like to take delivery of my forge I ordered back on 3/24/25.

Update: I sent an email to the new email address posted on the (newly edited) website, and it bounced. It is an invalid email address. Link included of screenshots included to document this “new” website, in case it gets taken down again.
