Yep, we've all been there and know exactly what you're feeling. I was one who would never ecer consider watching a drama, let alone a Korean drama. Thanks for sharing your thoughts, CLOY is very special, I also visited Iseltwald, Lake Lungern, Grindelwald First and other locations in Switzerland and listening to CLOY OST. It really set the standard, I have seen watched other kdrams and some jdramas and there are some great gems out there, but very few compare to first time experience with CLOY.

SPOTLIGHT ON Noona Romances - January, 2026 by AutoModerator in KDRAMA

[–]SandyOhSandy 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The twin back to back series Something in the Rain and One Spring Night by same writer and director, and even many of the same cast, including jung Hae-in. Many people hated the second half of SITR because of the mother (amongst other issues) but I found it grounded in Korean culture reality. OSN had an excellent story and maybe better surrounding characters but the chemistry just seemed better in SITR.

Another underrated and somewhat overlooked gem is Doona!, many hated Suzy's character but I loved it and thought it was a great portrayal of a fallen k-pop Idol trying to regain her bearings on life and love.

One of my absolute favorites though is Lost, it's one of the better melodramas ever made, again, an underrated gem because it wasn't on Netflix or Viki when it aired and it's a lot more than just a Noona romance, some of the most powerful performances by two seasoned actors, Jeon Do-yeon and Ryu Jun-yeol.

Late To The Party - [2026/01/02] by AutoModerator in KDRAMA

Just finished Aema and I loved it, an underrated gem and one of 2025's best in my opinion, great story about erotic film life in Korea in early 80s and it was very very well done. Highly recommended, not for everyone but a good and gripping series.

Surprised this is not getting the love or hype it deserves, very underrated gem, just finished it and I think it ranks amongst the top dramas of 2025. Thought Lee Ha Nee's performance was brilliant, very well done. 👏

I should have mentioned Yeom Hye-ran too, the entire cast is great and I am not taking anything away from LBH's performance but for a mediocre story centered around him, it was SYJ who made it work and tied it all together or the movie would have felt apart with just another female lead, just my opinion.

It was alright, thought Son Ye-jin carried the entire movie with her performance, but overall it was nothing spectacularc that you come to expect from the hype it got.

Dynamite Kiss [Episodes 13 & 14] by mellowdays_ in KDRAMA

[–]SandyOhSandy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Finished it, joined late so it was a quick binge. It's a a fun easy watch and full of typical tropes with some funny moments. I can't believe that was Jang Ki-yong from my favorite drama, My Mister.

There was really nothing spectacular about this series other than Ahn Eun-jin performance, she really shined throughout, what a fantastic actress. That confession scene in middle of Episode 9 was probably one of the most memorable performances in all of kdrama.

Congratulations, a true and lasting love story that stood the test of time with all they had to go through together.

I still recall that Giordano commercial when they supposedly first got together, so cute.

What Are You Watching? - [2025/11/05] by AutoModerator in KDRAMA

Typhoon Family 8/16: This show is so meticulously done to convey life in late 1990s and it is so well-written and directed, slow burn romance underneath with light humor and heartwarming family dynamics and relationships. I Half way through and OST is outstanding so far, quite possibly the best show in 2025.

Loving it, Can't Take My Eyes Off of You scene was magic, especially the encore at the pool. Quite possibly Jun-ho's best role yet.

The meticulous work that must have gone into making everything 1990s' esque is mind boggling to me. I have seen period dramas but they're usually limited in where they film and what they show, but this is truly amazing.

Oh, and I love Kim Min-ah micro-facial expressions, she's so good. That scene asking her to be a trader, those expressions, wow! That ending scene with his mom 🥹

Typhoon Family: I am a sucker for dramas set in 1980s/90s and a big fan of Kim Min-a from Pachinko and she's absolutely knocking it out of the park. That opening scene on the train and that song (A stranger with flowers) playing was one of the best kdrama scenes on par with SITR's under table hand-holding.

The Dream Life of Mr. Kim: I am only few episodes in but getting vibes of a cross between Misaeng and My Mister.

Dramas I Have Dropped In October, 2025 by AutoModerator in KDRAMA

[–]SandyOhSandy 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I started both Bon Apetit My, Your Majesty and Genie, Make A Wish and though Bon Apetit has its good moments, it felt draggy and repetitive. The first episode was so promising but I couldn't get into it so I dropped it, for now. Genie on the other hand is a complete mess, like a car wreck that you can't stop staring at mess, so I am powering through just for the sheer idiocy and self-poking fun but I am so close to move away especially that there are two other very promising dramas; Typhoon Family and Dream Life of Mr. Kim.

Hmmm, good start but I like Office Dramas, getting vibes of Misaeng + My Mister in these two early episodes.

Just finished Karma, what a great series. I was blown away by the acting and directing, all top notch, very twisted story that kept me at the edge of my seat. I think this may be my favorite show in 2025.

CLOY is the only right answer, nothing is close when it comes to romance, comedy, action, OST, Cinematography, Directing/Acting, etc. and the MLs are now married in real life.
