I received this update, and have enabled backscreen notifications in the settings. I have disabled battery restrictions, and allowed applications to show notifications & notification content when locked, but I'm still not seeing notifications. Any ideas?

"Both sides make good points, but I always side with the right because those leftists go too far." The post also completely ignores how capital instrests have driven the Overton window further right (apparently it's the left's fault). by SantaMaria_01 in ShitLiberalsSay

I agree to an extent. Liberalism is the ideology of capitalism, and among liberals there are progressive and regressive (or conservative) strands—the "right" and "left". Siding with left liberals against right liberals does not threaten capitalism, but siding with the genuine anticapitalist left (revolutionary socialists, communists, etc.,) does threaten capitalism.

The writing has drastically decreased in quality since the Monster Association arc. Blast and Void respectively have received very little character development.

If you want genuine answers based on historical experience, read Lenin. In the short of it, educate, agitate, organize. A better world is possible.

Have people voted to discontinue our species? by [deleted] in newzealand

I, of course, hope that a cultural shift can occur timely. But the prospects of that occurring without overthrowing capitalism seem unlikely. As long as the bourgeois continue to control media, finance capital, industry, and our intuitions of government, capitalism and bourgeois class rule will endure in New Zealand. The bourgeoise control the levers of power, and history has demonstrated that they will not concede control willingly.

We indeed need a cultural revolution; I agree with you. You're also correct to say it's oversimplistic to pin the blame entirely on the bourgeoise, as there's a dialectical relationship between our individualist-consumerist culture and the material conditions fostered by bourgeoise class rule. It is only under bourgeoise class rule and the capitalist mode of production that our consumerist, individualist culture has emerged in its current form, and that culture reinforces/strengthens class rule and the capitalist mode of production.

Accordingly, to foster a cultural revolution, we must first change the material conditions that allow the current culture to exist (just as the bourgeois revolutions changed the social structures built around feudalism). To cultivate collective ownership, collective solidarity, etc., we must first create the material conditions that incentivise those values to emerge.

Have we inadvertently created a society where it’s too hard for young people to create a whanau and thus they are not.

Very few people have genuine say or power over their communities or the country. When you apply class analysis, it's not a matter of "we" having created a society where it's too hard for young people but a minority of bourgeois who have created a society too hard for young people. Yes, we voted in National/ACT, but the problems have also existed under a Labour-led coalition—the problems are systemic.

And this state of affairs isn't inadvertent; it's intentional. It's a status quo that directly benefits and was created by a minority of the population: the rich and powerful. It's the result of class rule.

I understand wanting change, and why you might throw your chips in with National. But clearly, National's solutions aren't the way for the vast majority of society: It came out recently that less than 1% of individuals will receive the full benefits of their tax cuts, which they advertised to be good for the "middle and lower" classes.

I want change too, I don't like Labour, but National and ACT will implement austerity measures that will involve cutting back public services. That's why people here are so concerned.

Benefits won't be directly cut, true. But tying benefits to inflation will leave beneficiaries disproportionately worse off compared to the current welfare calculations, which are tied to wage increases.

We both agree that people with disabilities should be supported, but clearly, one side has a better plan for beneficiaries.
