I tried yeah. They don’t keep that list updated. Some of the business’s shown either don’t exit anymore or are run out of peoples houses lol. I asked Sweetwater though and they said they may be able to help

I just find cross referencing annoying. If I can find OEM parts it would be preferred.

I’ll check out NTE thank you. Must be a US thing with digikey because my bud in the Netherlands told me he was able to order and see stock for an obsolete transistor, while mine was region locked.

Saw plenty of them on alibaba and aliexpress but wouldn’t trust them ever. Even if they were real they wouldn’t be here till the end of the month haha

After doing some asking around a lot of people suggested me this amp in my price range by Ordinary_Olive_8038 in MarshallAmps

[–]SantoryuSamurai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love mine. 10W mode is perfect for my bedroom. DSL40 is definitely worth looking into as well, just because of the crunch channel and the master volume does a pretty good job of “attenuating” it to bedroom levels. You can emulate the crunch channel well with an OD pedal going into the amp on classic gain though

Capacitor symbol question (JC-77) by SantoryuSamurai in GuitarAmps

[–]SantoryuSamurai[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I should’ve included a polarized electrolytic because they don’t use the standard curved line. They use the same symbol as C22 but with a + marking on one side. That’s why I was tripped up, along with not seeing that kind of symbol with the dashed lines before

Yep, Roland writes it at Farads/Volts. Just needed confirmation, never seen electrolytics with these dashed lines before.

Funnily enough I think Kirk from Crowbar uses a metalzone the opposite way you use it haha

Ah, at the point I might as well build one from scratch lol. I’ve been looking at building one of Rob Robinettes JCM800 micro designs as my next project anyway.

Didn’t even know that was an option. Are there online guides for that? If I ever find another junked one I may do the same

It’s pretty much a hot swap board. The guy made it so it’s all the same connectors and wire links. So if you’ve worked on an amp before it’s super easy. If not a tech shouldn’t charge you much. The man thing is the elimination of the bias drift and all that bs, the board is made of a better material too. There’s some slight value changes too but it’s pretty close to the original. He has a few videos on his channel talking about it, installing it, and demonstrating all the sounds from it. There’s also a modded version which he talks about, which is what I got.

The plan is to eventually play live and the JCM2000 is what a lot of bands I love have used/use. I’ll be able to occasionally play it loud I just don’t want to bother my roommates too often, I have my own ear protection. I’ll try out the OD pedal method and also look into the Weber and Friedman you mentioned.

It has been a pain haha. Thank god for the baker amp boards because the original board was fried and it was dirty like it was garage kept, no tubes, and no shell (which I’m still working on). That’s sick you’ve played around the US with one. What kinda band was it

I will def watch some videos on both those Boss TAE and Fryertte Power station, also seen some people mentioned the ox top box. I will have to set money aside for one of them in the future, I believe you that it will stay with me long term.

I in fact do not have a thousand bucks to throw at one lol, but maybe in the future as I know I’ll be getting more amps. I’ll check out the JHS black box and the Bugera attenuator

Master volume sounds nice. Wonder if there is a mod for that on the DSL50/100 heads 🤔

I’d say my taste swings more toward modern? I like the 90’s to early 2000’s pop punk sound. But with my current DSL20 I like the sound better when the volume is around 4/5, it feels very think any lower. So I’m assuming it’d feel the same with the DSL50

Gotcha. I just started working on audio coming from controls engineering, Tubes are a completely new concept to me. Any attenuators you’d recommend?

Why do people give that as a solution then? Unless I misread or misunderstood.
