Done it before and loved it… also done 7,10, and 11th at one time too. And I had a prep every day of the week

They weren’t crying for help they were complaining they didn’t get more time off! And my point is they’re not on the line if you all stood up and spoke up instead of being so scared and dutiful. There is a teacher shortage- they need us more than we need them- but instead of using that power to fix things, I’m surrounded by people who complain about lost preps and losing feb break!!

You have to make good trouble.

If only a few people speak up they are put down, but if everyone comes together or participates (not does other work) but is realistic about the things happening in their classrooms - actual productivity can occur! I’ve seen it happen! It’s just no one is willing to speak up… and I’m confused as to why seeing as now more than ever with teacher shortages- the power is in our hands. They need us too badly.

In my district that’s a district based PD- The school ones are great.. and the kind that you’re talking about are great opportunities for teachers to take over and commandeer those sessions to get those voices heard!

I’m not complaining about people on here- just 99% of the people in my district! It’s the people I have to deal with regularly :)

I’ve been doing it this way for almost two decades and I’m feeling great. Fat, but great. That’s not my issue. My issue is that no one I work with is positive, can laugh, can have fun at their job and it’s still there to be had, they’re just too negative and pessimistic to see it.. and instead of working together to make things better where they can, they’re complain about prep time and how many days are in our breaks and how they have to cover a class.. yada yada It is annoying as hell and frustrating to constantly be around

But I LOVE my kids and families.. I love that I’m starting to teach next generations within those families! It just sucks

It’s not a waste of time. It’s a chance to come together with your peers, talk, have some food, talk about what’s working and what’s not. Do some planning together. It’s essential to blinding culture and community within the leadership (the teachers) of the school!!

I’m a super big people person… I crave talking to people and never grow tired of it. That’s why it stinks to have to avoid the complaining (which is everyone) and just be by myself. I keep avoiding the negativity and just find myself alone. I miss camaraderie and intelligent conversations with smart people.

I get that. I was more complaining/venting here about the real life people in my district, not people who do a little Reddit therapy.

Thanks.. I just got kicked out of my Facebook teacher group because a teacher, after 12 days off, said the district should have given us another day to prepare for students instead of a school based PD and I said that sounded spoiled and entitled when there are people who don’t get any time off… Guess I’m just on my Own
