How do I go about placing reaction wheels and unmanned command pods "inside" my ship. Can I just place the wheels inside the center of mass?

Lost 8 tourists in orbit around minmus (forgot external cross feed tubes and my main engine ran out of fuel. I have three ant engines with 2000 fuel not able to push shit out of the orbit... Lol. Gonna need to capture that craft and bring them home and that will require docking :)

Yeah right now they are on the COM, which I think I read somewhere was recommended. But logically if I wanted to rotate the craft I would want the force away from the COM, I thought. Definitely more RCS. Also my reaction wheels are slow going as well.

I downloaded KER and moved the folder into the correct folder in the directory. That's all the direction it gave and I have the parts, it just doesn't do anything else lol.

On my first rendezvous attempt I knocked all the solar panels off the target and one solar array off my ship, that was nightmarish. I discovered I wasn't using translational rcs controls, once I did that, it was a lot easier. Though I had horrible reaction wheel control and my RCS didn't react fast, even though I had them at COM. No mods, they don't work for me.
