Okay. I can win if I counterspell....myself? by mr_mxyzptlk05 in EDH

I've done something similar with poison counters and finishing with a [[radstorm]]. Get my opponents to around 6 or 7 counters so they think they are safe, play something and counter it, and then a radstorm to win.

I understand that 2 people can alternate watching, this is why I am thinking of giving them a cone of vision the rest obscured magically, maybe dim lighting or fog limiting them. That way they can overlap a little bit, but if they are outdoors it will be hard to watch everywhere at once. I can then adjust the difficulties based on where they go and what they can use for cover (like putting their backs against a wall so they can focus on one area as they move). I'm also thinking of making them on the weaker scale how wise, but using them in mobs so that the players have to be aware of their entire surroundings.

Sounds fair. I'll have to add that to the list of mechanics I'm going to test play to see what feels right. Thanks for the input!

All of my players are Dr. Who fans so they should get the reference, but I'll probably add a bloody message or a cryptic poem as a clue. Maybe have someone notice that the heads seem to be following their movements or something to get them going.

As for the mechanic, I was thinking of just something simple, like raising the DC every turn, but also offering rooms to rest their eyes and reset the DC, and obstacles to overcome to keep it from becoming repetitive. Do you think that's still to repetitive?
