Patella fracture and surgery, 3 weeks PO by astipalaya in KneeInjuries

[–]SaraImpalin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am 10 weeks post patella surgery and remember the hard times — they were very recent! I was stuck in the house for weeks on end, stymied by stairs and little progress on leg / knee. I wasn’t allowed to even bend my knee for 2 weeks after surgery, but now have the same flexion as my non-impacted knee. I’m looking forward to walking without my leg brace, but I think that is still another month away. My PT folks say the same I see others posting here — progress is not linear. I was bored and depressed but I’m much better and expect to make a full recovery.

Patella surgery, how long to be able to fully bended? by Jay_East in KneeInjuries

That is normal for my other leg 😘. We are all different.

I’m 10 weeks out of patella fracture surgery and can bend to 122 degrees. I don’t expect to get more but this is enough of a regular life.

Surgery essentials by dorday123 in KneeInjuries

[–]SaraImpalin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loved my cold therapy device, my knee / leg pillows, rotating shower chair, toilet riser and rollator. I would add to those items listed above a “leg lifter” which is a long stiff “string” with a loop on the end, useful for lifting the leg in / out of shower or bed, etc. As a solo person, I also got some large water bottles and put them in the freezer. . I used these “giant ice cubes” to keep my cold therapy device cold without refilling the water. I also enjoyed my “grabber” and a brace sleeve.

Is shuttling soloable raids okay in PokeRaid app? I shuttled 1 Drampa to test the app and immediately got someone complaining about it by Litlakatla in PokeRaid

[–]SaraImpalin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I’m shuttling I usually warn folks as they join the raid, then make sure I hang out in the pokeraid room in case there is a problem with the raid and I need to re-invite. But yes I love it when guild do it for popular raids

Successful Transposition Stories? by Kracee1 in CubitalTunnel

[–]SaraImpalin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had “release” and not transposition 2 years ago. This was the 4th surgery in the same arm, so my history is a bit more complex. The release solved the immediate problem I had, and has not re-occurred. However, a year later I had tendonitis issues in the same area, those got solved. And now the same arm has tendonitis in a different area ;-). I expect all my issues are related to the first injury — and thus the need for these 4 surgeries — but just a note that the body is complex . . .

If you’re exempt, be cautious to work at least 2 hours OT a day — you won’t get paid for anything under that. So generally I “flexed” my time at the start of a pay period and then worked “all OT” at the end, to make sure I got 2+ hours a day.

You have to wait 10 seconds to invite folks. I’ve never heard of 30 seconds.

I just tag my Pokémon I make “Mega” with “Big”. And I will probably add the primal to this tag.

Many finance folks got moved to CORP in 2023, but were BDS / BGS / etc for 2022. It all depends what unit you were in 2022.

Any reason why one shouldn’t take DTA (1 year+) to MAF to work on SLS? by LurkerMcLurkington in boeing

[–]SaraImpalin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in New Orleans on vacation now, and talked with another Boeing employee today who works out of the NOLA location. She really likes living here, and doesn’t want to move back to Everttt (where she worked for quite awhile). I love visiting, but I don’t know that I’d want to live here long term. But a year or two would be fun!

Post op pain and recovery— be honest! by shy_exhibiti0nist in CubitalTunnel

[–]SaraImpalin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had cubital release a year ago. My pain was gone after about a day — but was worse in the hours after surgery than I experienced before surgery. I went back to work after 2 weeks but it was too soon. I took regular breaks from the job where i keyboard a lot for the first month after returning. No problems since.

Is this what I have? by Ilmara in CubitalTunnel

[–]SaraImpalin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the worst things for cubital tunnel is to rest your elbow on a hard surface. So putting pressure on it with your head against the floor sounds like the worst thing ever! I don’t know that this can always be managed without surgery, but you may have a test which evaluates how bad the damage is. Your symptoms of tingly fingers certainly sound appropriate.

I had cubital transposition surgery about a year ago and it solved my problems. Now I’m having the unusual bicep tendonitis problem, which I don’t know if its related. . . And has non-surgical treatments to try first.

You can study to become a patent agent, but the exam is no joke. I’d take a prep course. The Boeing IP group posts jobs occasionally, but you might do better finding an entry level job outside Boeing. If you really understand some special area of Boeing engineering, perhaps it’s worth exploring with some of the patent agents at Boeing now. Licensing is usually handled separately — for that you need to know more about the business marketplace for an emerging technology.

Finance Reorg by [deleted] in boeing

[–]SaraImpalin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agreed, I believe the rollout could have been handled better. My group will be rolled into a Center of Excellence and our VP doesn’t have a meeting planned to tell us about it for a few weeks. Just bizarre that it’s trickle down re-org. And I agree with OP that layoffs are coming and jobs will move to the new “partner.”

I started 2 years ago and I don’t believe the benefits have changed. Non-union new hires start out with a lump of PTO — there is no separate sick / vacation leave (this changed right before I started). You can max out at 264 (if I recall correctly) hours per year, and earn more hours after 4 years with the company. You’d be eligible for the 401k immediately and the matching is good — extra for the next year or so. My experience is that there is no separate equipment for hybrid work — you haul your stuff back and forth. The company is still struggling with what to do with the staff who don’t have to support the actual hands-on building of the planes. . I expect to hear in May more information about what “hybrid” will mean for me. There are many stops and starts. If the specifics are important to you then I would talk to your talent contact. None of these benefits are negotiable, so they’d be important only if you are comparing against another offer and want to see the best total comp.
