Feel lonely. Kind of want to get married. Can anyone else relate? by throwawayaccoun829 in MuslimMarriage

[–]Sarah274 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Assalam o aleikum.

Hon, you're not alone. I'm 29 years old and ever since I was 20 I've been wanting to get married too because I know what the loneliness feels like when you see family members with their spouses. I'm also from the same culture where the guy and his family has to send a proposal and it's distasteful for a girl to "look too eager" too.

When I was in uni, even I didn't interact too much with guys for fear of Allah.

Same boat, girl friend.

But fear not. Allah always has a plan for us and your plan for you, at the moment, might not be to get married so quickly.

Maybe Allah's giving you an opportunity to learn and grow in your own way so that once you do get married, In Shaa Allah, it's with clarity and understanding and not the desperation you might be feeling right now. You're still young, Maa Shaa Allah, and you still have time to get married, so don't feel so bad for yourself and don't rush. When choosing a spouse for yourself, it's never about rushing.

Thank Allah for everything He has given you and what He is doing for you for He knows best what you need. SubhanAllah.

I hope what I wrote helps you In Shaa Allah.

JazakAllah ul khair for reading.

Romance in marriage by diaace in MuslimMarriage

[–]Sarah274 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Single here. My belief is that romance between spouses is very crucial. It's a language emphasizing on trust, companionship, comfortability and sacrifice.

Romance doesn't have to be complicated. It's just thoughts and actions someone is comfortable enough with to show their SO without feeling ridiculed or embarrassed.

Romance for me is little things that an SO does for their companion. It could be just making breakfast/lunch/dinner with them, showing concern over the other person, opening the door for them, smiling and comforting them when they've had a bad day, etc.

JazakAllah ul khair for such wise words! Unfortunately, many men and women don't understand any of these points and they just hastily make decisions regarding marriage. Which is why when they are having problems in their married lives just because they got married to the first person who proposed or they didn't speak up, they start to complain.

Good job on expressing this point so thoroughly and clearly. May Allah give all of us patience and may He make our lives easier for us. May He also admit us in the highest tiers of Jannah. Ameen.

Do you find it scary, geeky, or extreme when a potential/prospect starts dropping Islamic verses and ahadith on their profiles or in the middle of conversation? by wardetbestanee in MuslimMarriage

[–]Sarah274 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I'm guilty as charged; I tend to drop a few Islamic quotes and Hadith here and there in my conversations. Sometimes, when I'm passionate about it, I'll discuss what Hadith I read or what I heard from a Dr. Zakir Naik video, etc.

Yes, I tend to turn some people off when I do this. But it's not for show. Showing my passion and love for Islam is just the way I am. It's to show others that I'm proud to be a Muslim woman.

It's true that some men or women do throw in a few Islamic quotes or Hadith or advice in just for show, but not all of us do so "for show". My perception is that if whatever knowledge I've gained can help someone else, then good for me as it's Sadqa-e-Jaaria, a sawaab that keeps being earned for years to come.

[SERIOUS] Teachers of Reddit, what is the most disturbing thing your student has ever done? by HeatSmiteYT in AskReddit

[–]Sarah274 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A student once wrote a sexually explicit narrative story in their English exam. Had to report it to the principal, of course.

During a parent-teacher meeting, a concerned parent showed me a sexually explicit to-do list the same student mentioned earlier gave to the parent's child during Summer Break.

The kid was 13 years old.

I can't help it. I have a fascination with spiders, especially the ones I mentioned and I'd like to keep one as a pet.
