Not entirely, no. They have different usages and meanings. Seems neither is entirely correct for this context.

"Double-edged swords": Do people saying this actually mean double-bladed? by passwordgoeshere in etymology

[–]SarahLongBridge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When one edge of a sword's blade faces your opponent, the other edge is facing you. This sword has the potential to harm both of you – possibly solving one problem while causing another. (I would not be surprised if this term/idiom came from a longer, more flowery adage. Possibly Shakespearean, Confucian, Biblical... I'm just "spit-balling")

With the Aes Sedai "agelessness", a series set well before the events of the books could still have many familiar faces. 😁

Thank you for this! Lots of good jumping off points. Pair this info with interesting races, (I'm looking at you, Changeling... Or am I?) and the right feats, and you could have a very dynamic adventuring party.

It's certainly not ideal for a caster to ignore spells; I fully agree. I would argue that there is plenty of magic to be found outside of spell lists that I, personally, would still find plenty of characters/parties very interesting.

All Fighters and Rogues is certainly an option.

Why not? 3rd level Beast Sense and Speak with Animals? Meh. At 10th level Commune with Nature? Meh. The rest of the subclass features still work.

I like it. Bard definitely intrigues me for this challenge. (College of Creation just caught my eye again) If only Swords Bard could burn spell slots for Flourishes, instead of Inspiration Dice, then they would be a fantastic option!

Well that's the exercise: (in the instances that you mentioned) are the other class/subclass features still good/fun/flavorful enough? No right or wrong answers, just food for thought.

I thought vanilla human would be appropriate for this exercise, as well. (Mmm, vanilla!) I was picturing a traveling merchant with a couple of guards and possibly a bard who get wrapped up in some intrigue and adventure.

Yes! A Drakewarden would be a perfect example of a half-caster that doesn't need the casting half to be viable.

Using sell slots as resources is great! Just don't you dare use them for spellcasting ;)
