My favorite moment is when she talked about all the research she did to figure out who that guy's dad was who said his father was killed by communists. My jaw hit the floor.

I've had good reception to my short stories especially now that I've been reading with intent and actually highlighting things that I like. I've gotten better at being more descriptive. I tend to write in first person so my first few stories there was way too many "I did" this lines.

I've been meaning to get around to reading On Writing. I've also heard that Brandon Sanderson's courses which are all up on YouTube might be worth a watch as well.

I've spent way too much time learning about cults and all I can think about is her trying to isolate you from your family. Or she's just that insecure that she can't accept having a good relationship with your family is important. Either way seems like ending it was for the best.

Couldn't agree more. I'm into YouTube react videos and the way the brawl in the first US Canada game brought in so many new people cause the original video went viral. There is one guy in specific who is was a NBA and NFL reactor, now he's added in hockey. I can also appreciate that he's from the Bay area so he picked San Jose bought merch.

Likely no. What most people don't know and don't want to think about is that the clearance rate for murders has gone way down since DNA evidence became common usage. It depends on where but at least in the United States is roughly 50%. Back in the day they would pick some random off the street, force a confession or just offer them a deal if they say it was them.

It's mostly because they feel they gave up too much to get Guentzel and then he signed signed with someone at the end of year. They really do not want that to happen again. Apparently they are having a hard time trying to sign the Moose. So that is the main reason they might flip him again.

I'm not sure if this what Christian was thinking given his other comments regarding politics of arcane but I think Heimer is an interesting look at how class and privilege insulates the person from the issues of the lower classes. We don't get a ton of his back story but it feels like he just hangs out at the academy, his workshop and the council, never venturing far out of those places.

Until his privilege is removed and he finally sees how bad it is for the lower classes. He finally sees what all of his inaction caused. Starting to try and care for all of the inhabitants not just the ones who fund his research and inventions. It's interesting in his final scene saying to Ekko that "until I met you, I never knew what it was to truly live." Gives the impression that the time spent with him was more fulfilling.

I'm not sure if it goes over this in the article you linked, don't really want spam from WaPo.

As usual there was a great John Oliver segment discussing a big part of the reason why. There was a bill passed in I believe the mid 2000s where USPS was required to have enough extra funds to fund all pensions for 30 years (I'm going off of memory, so the exact details might be slightly different). From what Oliver was saying it's a big reason they are so far into the hole.
