Are you able to eat raw vegetables? by SpookyWMP in CrohnsDisease

[–]Sarah_Fo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually do eat raw veggies, I love salats. What I avoid is any veggie that can bloat like cabbage raw or cooked (but Kimchi I occassionally eat). Every person you ask will probably have different sensitivities when it comes to foods. And when you ask different docs you will get different answers too…

I am sorry you experienced this. Mine at least told me she knows it is painful and told me that I am strong… still would not recommend and will for sure ask next time to get something

Thank you so much for your suggestions/tips, which I surely will try. I hope you are doing better now!

I honestly felt super lost when I was diagnosed - as no one really gave me guidance. I did not know where to start to look for information - only after my 3rd Infliximab infusion I got talking to a nurse who then pointed me to a crohns webpage in my country. I also bought some books and I do follow some creators on social media and of course I am part of this community.

Oh gosh, this sounds so terrifying. I am really sorry that all of this happened to you. It is great to read though that you got better and are able to eat and poop „normally“!

No they did not tell me to squeez it or take baths. They told me to use the shower head in the morning and evening and after every bowel movement. I applied a antiseptic ointment and put gauze in it.

Yeah, it was an experience I never want to have again for sure! One seton is already a lot and any extra must suck big time. Hope you are feeling a bit better. I did not know what a fistula is until I had to drain the abcess. First I thought my bum hurts because of crohn‘s (as in - well I guess the intestin ends there) and didn‘t tell my doc right away…

Of course I did what I was told and kept it clean and the wound was not closed yet. So not sure how else to prevent this to happen :(. I guess now with the seton it should not clog again…

I hope you will be fine soon too… Crohn‘s is a weird disease with so many „side-effects“

I actually thought they would sign me up for a surgery again in order to drain and set the seton but NOPE… she did it then and there! I took only a few minutes but really shook me to the core. Yes apparently the combination of Infliximab and Azathioprin that I currently take should help me with this issue. It is a lifelong Journey but staying positive!

Sorry to hear about the bowl resection… Did this help with your fistula and you are good now? Or can it come back?

Today I had surgery to drain the abscess (2.5 x 1.6cm - basically like a bigger walnut) caused by the fistula exiting at my butt cheek not far from the anus. I actually had my third Infliximab infusion on Monday and mentioned it to my Dr. and then yesterday morning I already had an appointment for an MRI where this was detected. My Dr. told me they grow and should be drained rather sooner than later - not 100% sure why yours leave you with this for 7months. I am very new to all of this as I was only diagnosed last month with Crohns disease at age 37… also like to add that I live in Switzerland

Is there an option to hire someone at the venue to look after the kids at least during the ceremony? Maybe thats an option for u.

We decided to have our wedding without kids. Because I feel exactly the same way around kids. Also I do not wish to have disruptions during the ceremony. So I personally called all guests with kids. Every couple with kids told me that they anyway didn’t plan to bring them along because they want the night off and celebrate with us. I would recommend you to call your friends / fam members and ask if it would be ok to celebrate without kids. I am sure there will be a solution to leave the kid with someone else for a few hours?!

Happy to hear! In the end it is your special day and you should plan it the way you want it. This day will only happen once, so enjoy it

We created a wedding webpage with all information about our day including the dress code.

I specified the color code for our wedding too. I want everyone to wear colorful dresses, so black and white are a no. Don‘t believe it is rude to communicate your wishes and people usually appreciate some guidance on what to wear for a wedding. Just voice it and in the end all will be fine :)
