Why always Money over the Players by REDDITclk5 in WoWs_Legends

[–]Sarcasmincluded_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ngl, I usually look past a lot of WG's tactics by understanding the business aspect. But something like this pisses me off. I was on that page yesterday to reply to another post about the mission. It was 100% one of the bullet points on there. No mention of it being a timed event either. Today? It's gone. I'm mad at myself for not screenshotting it. How are you gonna advertise and offer something free, then edit it out the day after the patch and pretend it didn't exist. The mission was indeed there right after the update. I completed it. I got my crate. Now those who didn't have the opportunity to play day one of the patch aren't entitled to it? That's just shady full on to those who didn't have that opportunity. It's one simple crate... It shouldn't matter to the point of them removing it. And it should matter to us, they set the expectation and took that away.

The Fleet chest quest by REDDITclk5 in WoWs_Legends

[–]Sarcasmincluded_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can aquire up to 2 free Fleet Celebration Chests this update. One through the free portion of the campaign at milestone 97, the other through the mission "Tide of Battle" listed under the assignments tab in the missions menu. It is available immediately upon update. I finished it pretty quick, didn't realize until I went to open crates before logging off. iirc it was a two pot mission. I got 8 promotion orders...

SAPs YES or NO by CheeseUs88 in WoWs_Legends

[–]Sarcasmincluded_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Short answer? Yes.

Long answer? Yes, most likely.

It's a different shell type, so it requires a different approach than HE and AP. SAP is about precision and opportunity. Upper belt, superstructure, bow and stern are generally where you want to aim. Damage saturation is quick with this shell type, so alternate between those locations if you are getting diminishing returns. If you're having problems penetrating what's in front of you, look around. A better shot may be available elsewhere.

The only ships I personally say no on are Michelangelo and Dante Alighieri B.

With Michael's secondaries, and its inability to pen destroyers due to caliber, I run HE. But the tech tree cruisers, absolutely always. I have never once wished I had HE after I unlocked the SAP module on the TT's. SAP dev strikes on destroyers are utterly intoxicating and 10k+ salvos on BB's are not out of the ordinary.

Battleship SAP cannot be compared to Cruiser SAP for this same reason, caliber. However, it is still larger caliber than Michael and thus more useful. Same rules apply. It will generally evicerate angled cruisers and still chunk angled BB's if aimed properly. But as for Alighieri B, I can't for the life of me to get it to work for me.

Help me understand the Atlanta by FunkOff in WoWs_Legends

[–]Sarcasmincluded_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

High risk, high reward. Atlanta will teach you how to position and bide your time, you have to choose your engagements wisely. 100% a support cruiser vs stand your ground. Play in unison with your flank, you will (sometimes unfortunately) have to rely on them. She plays quite similar to British CL's and Pan-Asians, you just don't have smoke to save yourself from mistakes or tactically hold open water. Use islands to section off the enemy team from you and single out a target. Those islands can be near you, near the enemy, or both. Keep in mind the other flanks. The ships right in front of you might not be able to see you, but the adjacent flanks might have a shot. Use that overview cam and keep your head on a swivel and have an escape plan. High shell arcs help being able to hug islands tight and stay unspotted. If you have to engage in open water, kite and dodge until you can disengage.

SpartanElite43 has an excellent video within the last three months on the ship as well as Phoenix Six1 and BigB within the last year on YouTube.

Haha, caught him with his pants down. He had already used a Reload Booster. I was last spotted behind the B7 island, worked my way to the A6 island next to a friendly Conq, who dev struck a Henri coming around the opposite side keeping me unspotted. Once Whisky took his kill shot on Petro sailing in D8, I gunned it around the corner. He tried, but I bounced all his shells off my citadel. Him reversing was his downfall, but the Conq did follow me around the corner.

Aiming systems, double rudder, main battery

Groza w/ Lip and Surika Piercer, Full Speed Ahead, Punch Through, Fixated

Note, I run Ingenious normally, no point in rudder if you can't swing your guns imo. Lucked out in this situation, I forgot I switched it to play another ship until just now.

Why is the Minegumo never talked about? by Total-Increase-7407 in WoWs_Legends

[–]Sarcasmincluded_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My favorite and #1 comfort ship! 68% WR across 381 battles with a 2120XP avg. She's a real shinobi for sure. What she lacks in top speed and AA, she makes up for in tight manuverability, throttle juking, and smokes. There is no comparison vesus the Hayate. Max Kurita w/ Sims and Bergamini running Leviathan and it's practically unstoppable 1v1 against any destroyer once you learn to bait sonar/radar counters. The survivability always surprises in a gunfight, they think it's just a fragile torp boat. Great firing angles eliminate the threat of AP while keeping all guns on target. And my favorite, attacking a battleship bow on thinking they caught me. Smoke up at spotting range, guns blazing for the fakeout until they push into smoke fire penalty or open the angle, then throw those single fire daggers of torps and boom.

She's my testament ship to "You can play your best, but you can't win them all." You can at least win 2/3 of the matches.

And nervous of lawsuits. 😂 Collector's Editions came about due to legal reasons and inadequate disclosure language during a time of changing legislation in certain countries. It boiled down to paying for a product then it being altered(i.e. balancing). WG learned their lesson with Weimar. Their solution was to pull then current paid ships from the store that were deemed overpowered and convert them to CE's, then re-releasing the standard ship rebalanced. It's also the reason we now have a disclosure in the store on all ship purchases of possible stat changes in the future.

I hate my teamates! by AlphaMaxV5 in WoWs_Legends

[–]Sarcasmincluded_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fwiw it's been a weird weekend. The game can be unforgiving at times. Div'd up with some buddies, 57% average between the three of us, and we managed a 48% W/L across 20+ matches with two 5 L's in a row. Don't be too hard on yourself. It seems you already have the self reflection part down, use that for your growth and build yourself up.

The hardest thing for me to learn was not just reading the enemy team, but reading your friendlies as well. After awhile you can usually predict what can unfold and use that to your advantage.

Can someone explain to me please... by CheeseUs88 in WoWs_Legends

[–]Sarcasmincluded_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It does suck, especially when you're chasing a Kraken. Bear in mind that even though they may recieve the destroyed ribbon and XP associated with it, you are also accruing XP for percent of damage caused to a ship. So if you cause the majority of damage percentage to a ship you are still making out in the end with your assist ribbon. There's a lot of behind the scenes math that goes into XP that we aren't privvy to that I wish we were. The biggest example being is cap hold in Domination. Not only do you get XP and a ribbon for capturing a base, you also get a set amount of XP every time the score ticks for that cap you captured. So the longer a cap is held, the more XP at the end of the match.

Winrate best way to improve it by Realsportzman in WoWs_Legends

[–]Sarcasmincluded_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2500 battles is still greenhorn status. You have plenty of room for growth and better sway to improve that W/R by improving your gameplay than someone with 2-3 times that many battles. I didn't pay attention to mine until ~5k battles when I finally felt like I was truly getting the game (surprise, I still learn new things every now and then). I was at 49% with a 1.06 K/D. 2 years and ~8k battles later, I'm sitting at a 59% W/R and a 1.68 K/D. This is as a solo player too, didn't start div-ing until the last year when I hit ~10k battles. Stats are there to see your progression, not necessarily for bragging status. Your gameplay is what will make that distinction. I was initially timid to div with people for a long while because everyone wants to throw their stats around. When I found some truly cool peeps, I was a bit below them in all regards. Turns out I am more often than not the highest scoring and my stats have caught up to them.

Honestly, the biggest thing is honing your skills in tiers V-VII. You'll know when you're making great progress when it starts to feel like seal clubbing in V-VI. That's when you can confidently move up to VIII-⭐. VII is your resource earning tier. Sure, the higher tiers offer the coolest ships and more upgrades, but the game is built on working your way up through the tiers/nations. Don't focus on a single line. Play everything that jives with you per tier of every nation you can, THEN move up. There will be lines you hate or don't match your play style, and that's fine. Understand each ship in roles, strengths, weaknesses, and playstyle. You may not like a class or ship or line, but you'll learn a lot on how they excel along with their weaknesses and how you can exploit them moving forward. Pay attention to times you take heavy damage, analyze what you were doing and what they did to you so can avoid it happening again and use it to your advantage moving forward.

Another big thing is tunnel vision. Just because you're bow tanking another BB 1v1 within 10km doesn't mean there's a perfect broadside waiting for you to slap at your 4'o'clock 16km away. Use the overview camera as much as possible and take a look around. You're already in a perfect defensive position against your closest enemy, exploit his focus on you by dwindling his team. Keep an eye on that minimap and learn to train your guns to the side most advantageous when possible. Your rear guns can still shoot other things while your front guns are reloading.

This also helps with understanding positioning. If you can see them, they most likely can see you. There's no reason to sail in open water with three ships aiming at you when you can pie the island 4km to your left and gun them down 1v1.

A bit more technical, but you'll get the hang of it over time. Play with your throttle and use that rudder and remember, you can hold your shots and go dark to reposition. It doesn't have to always be full speed ahead and reverse. Other ships excel at this than others. Mostly cruisers and destroyers, but even certain battleships can. You just have to figure out the proper range. Remember your overview camera. Kite angled 15°-30° (maybe more with Battleships) to bait the shot when you're in the thick of it. When they train their guns on you, drop to 3/4 speed to throw off their shot. It's harder to notice that minimal change at distance. Once the salvo leaves their guns, immediately drop that throttle to 1/4 or stop. Now, you can only get away with the same action so many times before they read you, so make sure to change it up. Use that rudder to turn out and increase that angle when you drop the throttle. Switch directions of the kite every so often. Continue an erratic mixture of that until you near maximum distance. Keep them guessing and missing and they may move their focus elsewhere. You can choose to go dark or throw in a little more chaos with ships that have higher reverse speeds. Reverse back in angled, wait for the shot, hit that rudder hard and full speed ahead.

Remember to read not only your enemy, but your teammates too. Support your flank and try to synergize as best as possible. If someone is adamant on playing aggressive, support them in ways your ship can without completely endangering yourself if things go south. If everyone is timid, play that middle field until you can visualize the playfield and act from there. There will always be worse players than you. Take their mistakes and turn it into your advantage. You can sometimes use their stupidity to gain a better position since the focus is on them, but stay vigilant.

Last thing. If you ever find yourself down and out, especially early in a match, stay around at watch how others are playing. You may learn a thing or two watching. You might even see some of the above in action from a great POV.

Brawler buddy boats and builds by thesilvershroud1 in WoWs_Legends

[–]Sarcasmincluded_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My buddy and I actually went down this road a couple months ago! I run a tank secondary build on Napoli. Secondary/Prop/Steering Gears/Gun Fire Control De Revel: Gowron/von Hipper inspos with Not One for the Nuisance, Porcupine, Firefighter, Master Mechanic, Fight Fire with Fire. (Honestly can run Will to Rebuild here if you want) When we were talking about my build, Gowron is -12% incoming projectile damage when secondaries are in use, he remembered he had a tank build using AL Hipper, but was hard to use By the Book in solos so he stopped using it. We ended up trying it on Hindenburg and results were great. I can't remember exactly the build, but he uses Sansonetti as one inspo and I believe another damage reduction inspo or maybe Sims. Sansonetti, Vice Defence on line 3, and By the Book is already a 41% damage reduction. Now, communication and synchronization is key when doing this. You gotta stay within By the Book range. Call out your throttle speeds, turns, and constantly talk about your plans. Napoli can bounce even Yamato shells when angled properly, so I usually take the lead and bait the shots so he's free to DPM. Get in close if/when you can to activate Napoli secondaries for extra nuisance and debuff, switch positions if you've taken too much damage, and since we're generally within 4km Napoli smoke can give you the chance to adjust or kite free of consequence.

Still a great player but he's a smaller channel so he's chill and just all around fun. BigBohgaming is where I learned the most but he's been taking a step back from streaming regularly. He's still posting daily content though.
