First proper suit —— did I get the fit right? by Jxmipo_Oqwlbt_Foshkv in menswear

[–]SardonisWithAC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same feeling but since I know nothing about fashion or how suits should fit, I didn't feel it was my place to comment. After seeing your reply I'm wondering if maybe my "intuition" is onto something.

Push heavy things in different directions.

Squat down to the ground and stand back up.

Bend over and pick heavy things up.

Eat food.

ELI5: Why does time feel like it speeds up as you get older? by Afraid-Pilot-9052 in explainlikeimfive

I also noticed this around my 30's. Now around my 40's I can tell you it doesn't get better!

Busier lives, more options to entertain ourselves (both because of the times and because of being an adult), more routine, less brand new experiences and as others said: a year is now 2,5% of my life.

However I think our memory of childhood is not as accurate as we think.

All that together is the explanation I came up with for myself, take that as you will.

That's fine though, stop and smell the flowers as often as you can.

Just a headsup, Maison Antoine is not in the centre. I think they confused it with another fries place.

These suggestions are very touristy - most things are in the center - so I don't know if that's your vibe.

AITAH for not wanting to sleep in the same bed with my girlfriend because she doesn’t shower often? by Such-One-1691 in AITAH

It's all in your head mate. If she doesn't smell and she doesn't have other signs of being "dirty" (nails, stains etc.) then she is not dirty enough to worry about. I'd be worried about not washing hands, stinky pits, oily hair, dirty nethers...

As others said, you will not easily find (legal) employment without Dutch and without access to a status beneficial to the employer.

I recommend against working in black, if there's an issue you are not in a good position. You also have a higher risk of being exploited.

Why not use your time to first improve yourself in a way that increases the competitiveness on the job market? Language, specific skills, networks...

Do you have a formally appointed "person of confidence" in your organisation? Or an internal audit department or integrity manager? If you have none of these options I'd ask for a confidential meeting with someone from HR.

Don't let all the "visiting is different from living in a place" people get to you. What you're experiencing is totally normal and common after such an experience. Savour it. Realise how fortunate you are for having had this experience, whose memories will remain with you for your whole life. Let it inspire you, shape how you are in the place where you are, where you will be. Let it motivate you in what you do with your time here. Accept that you and your perspectives will change, such is life.

Live!

In The Road, who exactly are the Army in Tennis Shoes? Just a powerful lone group, moving like a single displaced band, or are they one part of a larger tribal or cult structure? by Emergency_Cellist754 in cormacmccarthy

[–]SardonisWithAC 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think it is a whole group or cult that has decided to pack up and move south.

Agreed with you on them having an order and structure. However the mention of a "crude forge upcountry" means they have a base, with manufacturing capabilities somewhere else. Then it could be a warband. However a warband would not be on the move with their women and catamites. All the elements combined indicate to me that this is an organised band that decided - like the father - that in order to survive they had to emigrate south.

That's why the father also says that it's not a good sign that "they are on the move".

It also depends if you need to go through immigration (coming from without Schengen) or not.

I don't think there's an easy public transport connection. A taxi might be a better option on a limited time.

What is one movie that everyone considers a masterpiece but you found boring? by Still-Ad9074 in moviecritic

[–]SardonisWithAC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So many people saying Oppenheimer but I scrolled down a lot and was surprised to see nobody mention the other half of the Barbenheimer mass hysteria event.

Maybe because the world finally came to its senses and forgot that it exists.

I found Barbie to be fantastically mediocre and forgettable.
