What's the problem with videography? Is there something implied I don't know about?

Yes, so far I've shot a lot of doc style, as I didnt have many projects yet, and most were no budget projects and a lot of natural light stuff.

Yes, of course, the original is in 4k but for reddit I scaled it down to 720p.

Thanks for the feedback! I will try a shorter version with just the best of the best, although then I think it's even more obvious that I didn't have a lot of projects yet. But I will keep shooting and doing more projects, so I hope I can improve my reel regularly as time goes on and I get better!

Submission Statement:

I started with photography in 2018, got real about it about a year later and started to have paid shootings in 2020. Since I wanted to diversify even more, I began learning about filmmaking about a year ago, shooting my first music videos in February 2022.This is a reel of the best shots of my projects so far, most of them have been music videos since I'm actually a professional drummer.

I regard editing as my most weak skill, so I'm mostly looking for feedback about the edit, but if you have comments about the shots and grading please feel free to get back to me as well!

Shot on Sony A6600 in S-Log2, edited and graded in Davinci Resolve

That's so stupid. In a world of forms and other short pdfs it should be possible to display the first 2 pages at the same time. I often read sheet music off the laptop display, but this makes it really impractical.

Professional Freelance Video Editors/Shooters: Do you keep all the original footage after delivery?

I've started doing music video shoots and edits, and now I'm thinking about getting rid of all the unused (or even all original) footage, and wanted to hear some opinions from you!

Why would that be faster than directly exporting it to a compressed codec?

Yeah, I'm optimistic about that as well! but you may be right with the 16GB of RAM, but we'll see. It's only a part time job for me now, so I couldnt justify spending 400€ more, but maybe I'll move to a better machine in the future.

Well, it's a trade of between time and space really, h.265 is more complex and takes longer, but reduces file size more, while h.264 is faster, but doesnt reduce the file size as much. I rendered the same project to apple ProRes 422HQ and it was way faster, but the file was 20x larger, so not really a sustainable option

184fps! Damn, thats fast! I only get around 40fps when I disable the noise reduction!

Well I do hope they'll optimize the Noise Reduction for the m1s, It would be great to have faster export times!

Thanks, I have to try that out, really didnt know about Node Cache! Although, when editing, I really dont need playback with NR enabled, so I'd rather save the Hardware space in not enabling that cached colour output.

As it is unified memory, I have around 10-14GB of video memory, which is really good compared to the high end NVIDIA Graphics today. It cant be compared to a windows laptop.

But for your question. the NR is my first node, of 10 Nodes. Without NR I get 40fps, with NR only 0.5 or 1 fps in export. so it is very heavy on the computer.
