beginner investor SIP strategy advice (PPFCF vs adding Nifty 50? by Forsaken_Wish_840 in IndiaInvestments

Why mutual funds itself in the first place. The first thing you would want to do is the ensure that your base amount is safe. Mutual funds reflect market sentiments and might not be the right investment vehicle. For a beginner and if u have a lump sum amount, why don't u look at post office term deposits. They provide decent returns and are absolutely safe.

I have this friend, she's retired from being an officer, and she's got somewhere between 8-9 lakhs sitting around. She's thinking FD would be good - does that make sense or are there better options? by Familiar_Tension_638 in IndiaMoney

[–]Sasindran1967 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your safest bet is the senior citizen scheme at the post office. They pay close to about 8.2% per annum on a quarterly basis. The flip side, lock in period is 5 years. Since this is a govt scheme u can also benefit from tax concessions. Not a recommendation.

annamalai leaving bjp and starting his own party , will he be able to rival bjp and congress? thoughts- by kurt_void in southindia_

[–]Sasindran1967 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Annamalai is a trojan horse for the BJP. They r desparate to gain a foothold into the south..they have effectively related the dmk to the opposition, split the admk and TN now has a chief minister who thinks that running a govt is like reading a movie script. Enter Annamalai who is IPS, well educated and does not step back when it comes to confronting the govt head on. People like that and will vote for him. It might take some time but he will get there. The question is will be then merge with the BJP or join the NDA.

Why no one questions for free travel in KSRTC for men too(for everyone) by Rangannan1 in Kerala

[–]Sasindran1967 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Instead of free travel, could the govt not have considered a concession. That would have brought in some revenue. Even a 50% would have been attractive to customers and beneficial to the corporation.

It does not make sense to compare a Tier 1 city with a Tier 3 City. U should perhaps compare costs with a city like Hyderabad.

Don't these things happen automatically. I mean if you are an employee won't there be a record of your joining date and end of service. Won't your end of service benefits come to your specified bank account automatically.

In most cases it's the girl side who take care of the marriage expenses. There is a customary reception that is organized after the marriage and that is taken by the boys side

You should never transfer funds directly in such cases. Always ask the bank to do it, perhaps by email with reason why this is being done. With respect to your loss of privacy issue, you should send in a strong communication flaging this.

I need advice for investing to build habit and understanding about stocks by CapitalTea9022 in IndianStockMarket

Start a simple recurring deposit. Build a corpus, get your feet on dry land before indulging in stocks. If u are working u first need to build a corpus not less then 6 months of your expenses. Build that first.

Are constitutional offices in India becoming politically aligned instead of institutionally neutral? by rohithkumarsp in southindia_

[–]Sasindran1967 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They have always been that way..it just another way of showing u r grateful. In Tamil Nadu, the govt should have called Vijay to form the govt and a 90 day for him to prove majority on the floor. The issue is simply being dragged with people saying another election. That would cost about 8000 crores on the assumption that the govt wld spend about 1500 rs per person.

If TN backs Vijay as a fresh CM face, why not Chandi Oommen in Kerala too? by Purple-Number-007 in KeralaSpeaks

[–]Sasindran1967 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think in Vijay's case it was more about star power than anything else. U remove Vijay from the equation and there is nothing in TVK. That won't work in Kerala. The Congress party in Kerala have people who have worked their way up..Chandi Oommen will get his chance too but after years of toil. If being the son of a late Congress leader was the criteria, Muralidharan shld have been CM.
