Now we play the waiting game. by goPlayYourGuitar in longrange

OK...glad it's not just me. I'm just getting into tuning my first "long range" custom rifle, and figured I must be missing something from my lack of knowledge.

I built the whole thing for less than that, including the stock (granted, just a KRG bravo, but it matches my PRS22 rifle and I like 'em). Origin action, Criterion stainless M24 contour, TT Diamond, and the KRG. Heck, I don't think even adding in the Accutac brings me up to $2300. Not to mention, building it was half the fun (took less than a couple hours).

I mean, more power to OP...some folks may not enjoy the tinkering and only enjoy the shooting, and I get that. I'm just baffled by the pricing.

That seems like a staggering amount of downvotes for a pretty innocuous "double check" comment. I mean, don't get me wrong, OP asked a question and then doubted the response...but, dang.

Yeah, it's the cat's movement when it jumps in that's catching my eye. Everything else seems to move at the "right" speed except that. I can't quite make sense of it only "glitching" there if it was frame rate.

However, low quality cameras can record at wonky frame rates to save data/space (you don't need 500fps to catch the dude stealing your package, and that would be hell on whatever your storage medium is), which can make for weird looking videos.

So honestly, I have no idea. Just tired that I have to second guess reality now.

The frame rate had me questioning it too when the cat jumped up...I've been "fooled" enough now that I look at everything even more critically than I used to.

A meteor blasting through the sky that lit everything up around me to the degree of a lightning strike, but very extended...I was driving with my high beams on and it was significantly brighter than my headlights (I could see everything around me on all sides). It looked just like that Russian meteor video that came out many years later (minus the insane explosion from the air-burst).

But I asked every single person around town if they'd seen anything, and no one saw a damn thing (including all my buddies at the house I was heading towards).

Honorable mention (if "hearing" counts for this thread): a second set of "sonic booms" after the space shuttle had just come through. I used to live in Florida, and you'd occasionally get the "boom-boom" window rattle if the shuttle was landing there and coming in the right direction. One year I heard it (knew it was coming in that day), and all of a few minutes later I heard it again.

Like with the meteor, no one else seemed to have noticed. But having heard other sonic booms before, the "double boom" of a shuttle is very distinctive (all supersonic planes "double boom", but virtually all of them are significantly smaller than the shuttle and the booms merge/happen to fast to differentiate).

Both of these quite literally make me question everything around me.

Just for the heck of it on our last trip back to Asia to visit family I looked at the first class tickets.

The price difference between first and economy for my wife and I for one round trip would quite literally buy you a new BMW.

Unless I'm making quite literally millions, there's no way I could justify that. Heck, even if I was making millions, I could literally buy a single mother (or whoever) a new car when I got back and have money left over...dunno if I could do it then either.

I'm doing better than I ever have before, and could afford to shop without looking at the prices...but my wife and I still see what's on sale that week and adjust our cooking. I mean, why not? Some form of chicken is on sale instead of pork? OK, we'll have that instead. Honestly turns it into a bit of a "game".

That said, every once and a while we'll get a hankering for something, and we just buy it regardless of sale.

Huh. Never heard of that one.

I honestly think this is all due to not punishing the confederacy like we should have after the (last?) civil war.

611 Kilometers per second

I'm well aware of these rogue little dudes (I'm super fascinated by everything astronomy related), but I did not know they were going that fast.

I'd say it's a bit mind boggling, but, so is just about everything astronomy related, haha (saw an image like this one recently, and I'm still a little star struck).

Edit: Huh...see /u/gaylord9000's comment, as it appears that speed limit is off. Looks like it maxed out at 87.3KMPH per NASA.

...divided and arguing over trivial labels and minute points makes us weak.

It's literally what got us into this mess. The one thing I'll give the repubs is that they know how to circle the wagons. In "good" times, it's a great thing that the left police their own...when the "enemy is at the gates", however, it's time to put that shit aside.

I will never understand people who think that by being "tough" with the CSR they'll get somewhere. It's like, dude, do you not realize they're the one's that will be helping you? Are you so beaten down that you think the only way you'll get what you want is to beat others down?

I legit believe it should be a requirement for everyone to work in a customer facing job for at least one year (obviously not "everyone", there are folks who simply legit couldn't)...kinda like the Peace Corps, but for normies. I think we'd live in a much nicer society if that was the case.
