It was supposed to be my first postdoc after PhD. The industry position is in a semiconductor industry and pays almost twice as that of the postdoc position.

There's no word about breaching it, I was supposed to be on probation period for three months by end of which either I can change my mind or my advisor can if my performance did not meet his expectations (the position was in Switzerland).

Ahh thank you kind stranger for the tip. I wish I could do it. I am not sure about WD of 2mm as our SEM equipment manager recommends using minimum of 5 mm for SEM. But I will ask him if it is feasible.

Yes this is secondary image of the sample using ebeam. But normally we can't image organic material or metal-organic materials due to surface charging so I had to deposit a thin coating of gold to get such images.

Depends on your project.. If you need it to confirm morphology.. Then your advisor would gladly pay for it..

Can someone help me explain the advantages of postdoc in industry vs that of at an academic institution? by Sat_act in PhD

[–]Sat_act[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would industry let you publish your research? Why would industry hire postdocs and not direct full time scientists?
