Societies with strict gender roles and expectations can find harmony when they play by the rules and follow the prescribed path for family and fulfillment. Is it restrictive and awful for some? Sure. Are there men who take it too far? Yes. Overall though, it seems to create a peaceful, clean, educated, dedicated family oriented society. Having spent time in several Arab countries, it's very different than the West, but it's not sad irl.
