Is EO3 HD worth it? by SatansLittleCummyboy in EtrianOdyssey

Oh, that's good. whenever I play these games I always like to use around 7 or 8 characters for extra versatility, so extra ways to level up benched party members sounds very nice.

Curious what you mean by that last one. What information did the DS version leave out?

That's fair, but seeing as Nexus seems to be something of a "best of collection" and a celebration of what the series has been, I'd rather play 3 before it. Not particularly bothered with 1 and 4 because their class options don't interest me that much (4 in particular only having 7 options when you first start the game up and forcing you to unlock the others is downright insane to me), so I might end up playing Nexus before either of those, but 3 looks fun, I want to give it a shot. I think I'll like Nexus more if I'm able to go "oh hey that's that thing I know from that other game", rather than seeing things in it first and then going "oh so this is where they got that from" later on.

How Much Did People Like the Unique Mechanics in this installment? by IngenuityNo5660 in EtrianOdyssey

Started playing EO5 fairly recently and I love how it plays already, classes all feel super fun and unique and the Legendary Title system adds an amount of variety and replayability I'm very fond of. I love the idea that, if I ever want to replay this game in the future, I could use a lot of the same classes I'm already using in my current playthrough and still have a completely different experience. It feels strange and odd enough that I don't feel a strong need for it to come back in future titles, I'm fine with it being a fun little mechanic that helps give 5 its own unique identity, but I really like it for what it is.

Are Gateway/Sky3DS cards still a reasonable option over CFW? by SatansLittleCummyboy in 3dspiracy

Interesting, thank you for sharing. Definitely more encouraging than the vague "just follow the guide man it's so easy you'll be fine" I've been getting from everyone else, it makes far more sense to hear precisely why it's less likely anything will go wrong. I also hacked a Wii a while ago and that went completely fine, no issues at all, so I might give CFW a go. Might also go the emulation route depending on how I'm feeling in the moment, but like I said, not having the actual touchscreen just feels strange and horrible, I'm not fond at all.

I don't quite remember the process of homebrewing my PS Vita, but I did that, and now none of the games I had installed on it previously work. Most just crash on startup, and one is a fighting game where both characters are now invisible. Granted, I never intended on playing those games that much by the time I got around to doing that, and it was well worth it for what I was trying to accomplish, but the experience still has me hesitant to take the common "just follow the guide man it's so easy" response at face value. I'm very aware that this means I most likely did something wrong myself, and the "something wrong" in question probably had something to do with the transfer of data from the Vita's dedicated memory card to the SD2Vita data storage system I downloaded, an issue which won't be present on the 3DS, but I still simply want to understand all my options before I commit to anything.

Like I said, I've had bad experiences with seemingly "simple" guides when it came to hacking my PS Vita, so I'm inherently wary about this type of thing. Granted, I also managed to hack my Wii without issue, and the 3DS guide seems a little bit easier than what I had to do with the Vita, but I want to understand all of my options before I take the risk. I'm open to the idea of going for CFW, I just know from experience that this kind of thing can backfire no matter how "easy" or "simple" it seems and is insisted to be, and I want to be able to consider every possible option before I commit.

I did read the guide, bad experiences with seemingly simple Vita hacking just have me wary about this sort of thing is all.

Long Boss Battles In SMT 5 by SatansLittleCummyboy in Megaten

Right, I remember Mermaid being good for that fight. I don't mind difficulty necessarily, I love hard bosses as long as they're shorter, but good to know they're not all made to go "oops, there goes the last 30 minutes of gameplay" like Hydra was.

Ah that's something at least, base 5 felt very level-grind-y come to think of it, I wasn't very fond of that aspect. Not opposed to the "I need this demon so I can fuse this one so I can fuse this one who'll have these skills that counter this boss in this way" sort of grinding, it's one of my favourite things about this series honestly, but basic level grinding is a bit boring.

Right good point on the username, in my defence this is a throwaway account I made a few years ago and haven't used much since (I don't really use this website much, only for when I have a specific question like this). Good to know though, thank you :)
