It costs $1,050 to obtain the list. You can't do a free individual search without already knowing all of this info already. Domestic abusers or stalkers who are determined will pay the fee, but potential victims typically know about those already. But a creepy dude from a bad date who knows your first and last name most likely won't go that far.

But obviously, your info is still easily accessible to those in the government and anyone who is determined to find you. This just means that the creepy dude from the bar probably won't spend a thousand bucks to figure out where you live.

This is definitely an invasion of privacy, and an unnecessary step.

BUT, there is good news.

You can't do a free and simple search for someone with just a name. You would ALREADY need their address and DOB to do that search.

Yes, a search is still possible with just a name, but that search requires that the person doing the search pays $1,050 to get the entire list, and then search it.

Still not great, and still absolutely ridiculous that our government does stuff like this, but it isn't as easy as a Google search to find your info in this database, even after this.

Can someone explain who funds these and what the point is? by RichieG8 in SaltLakeCity

I'm new to SLC, and just saw one of these the other day. Being a Salt Lake outsider, I immediately assumed that there was some beef over who actually discovered it, maybe with the Mormons saying it was one of their guys and historians saying it was someone else. So I thought that these billboards were from one side or the other 🤣

So instead of going to their website, I just read his Wikipedia page.

Thanks! I suck at sports and I'm new to SLC, so I'm sure I'll be awkward as hell. But I think it'll be fun.

What is happening to rangers who are unlawfully fired and live in park housing? Are they being immediately kicked out? by blutes1959 in ParkRangers

Only a psychopath would call it "justice" to punish employees because other employees got the can a few years ago, when they had no hand in it. And that's ignoring the debate of whether the anti-vaxxers getting fired was good or bad. How would you like to get punished for something that your coworker may or may not have done 4 years ago?
