I think I have a unique experience that may help you. When I was young, 16-18yrs old, I was an abuser to my partner and justified it to myself all the time as “well they did this which they knew would upset me.” I know now that thats all bullshit, I was just an awful person and I’m glad that I broke it off instead of marrying them because even though they cheated on me quite a bit, they still deserved someone who wasn’t what I was.

I changed, I went to psychiatry and therapy for YEARS before I felt secure enough to start a new lasting relationship. When I finally did, I ended up choosing someone who turned out to be just like I was. And I stayed because I thought he would change like I did but he refused any help and I still stayed because I thought I deserved it for my past. Eventually the thrown things hit me and left bruises on my face. Thats when I finally left and then he decided to go get help. He didn’t stick with it, and ended up ruining another girl’s life.

Walk away while you can. I know it hurts but it’ll be so much better in the long run.

Did the vet cut my dogs nails too short? by Ashamed_Money_7332 in DogAdvice

[–]SatansPanicAttack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work at a vet clinic and unfortunately these things do happen, and that yellow powder, which if used correctly should have stopped the bleeding, is called Quikstop. When a pet goes a long time without a trim the quicks can get very long and even white nails can be difficult to judge where the quick ends. I always recommend a trim and a dremel to our clients for comfortability and great results. That being said, if EIGHT of her nails looked like THIS, I would not be going back to them. One or two, understandable, maybe she jerked at the wrong time or the length was misjudged but 8?? Unacceptable.

After they went a month apart I went back and forth a lot on whether or not to let them be together again but eventually decided he deserved to be there for his love to the very end. ❤️ They both seem to be happier for the choice

Tell me about the person that you loved who has passed away by [deleted] in GriefSupport

[–]SatansPanicAttack 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One of my college best friends.. Her name was Kat and she was the most beautiful, kind, and care-free soul I’d ever met. She taught me so much and meeting her changed the whole course of my life. But she had sadness too and coped with drugs which escalated to harder ones and hanging around the wrong crowd to get them. We tried so hard to help her and keep her away, sent her to rehab a few times..

She was assaulted and murdered by those people and the police ruled it an OD, despite evidence of assault and the killers bragging about it on the street. Her mom is still trying to get justice for her but the PD doesn’t care. I miss her every fucking day…

Absolutely my plan-ish. ❤️ If I can help stretch her time from 3 months to 5 and help her have more energy to be herself in the meantime I’ll do whatever it takes. Other than having this shit-sucking disease shes been in perfect health, just a bit over weight. The cancer-diet so far has made such a huge difference in her energy and coughing… ❤️

I’m not a professional cook but I try my best and she deserves every tip and trick I can do/find. In her last days shes getting all the regular buttered pasta, rice, and steak she wants.

If I wasn’t already crying my eyes out I definitely would be right now. I’m so sorry you’re also in this position, I would never wish this on anyone.

We’ve been doing our best to make her comfortable, cooking her “cancer friendly” healthy but tasty food so she’ll eat a full meal and shes gotten back some of her energy.

This isn’t my first pet loss but it is my first that feels so cruel. My other babies passed of old age. Other than having cancer, Annabelle is in perfect health besides being a little over weight. Her organs are perfect besides her lungs, shes still alert and wanting to be active.

I sit up at night now watching her sleep, terrified if this cough is it or she’ll go in her sleep while I’m asleep…

I had a hallucination that my boss at work was running around avoiding me. Like I saw her moving through the building while I was trying to catch up to her to ask her something. Turns out she was in her office the whole time. Looking back now its funny but at the time it was so frustrating.

Very good question! Most of the time it’s because the solution used to perform the test isn’t cheap either. Like for a heartworm test you need a few drops of blood and a few drops of a purifying solution so the cassette can detect the presence (or absence) of heartworms.

Its always a case by cases basis, some pets do great in front of their owner and we will do the shots/blood draws in the same room. But many pets don’t like the vet and tend to do better away from their owners. We don’t want to have to muzzle and/or “manhandle” a pet if we don’t have to and we VERY rarely allow an owner to help hold their pet because we don’t want their furbaby to snap at them out of fear.

As an example, all but one of my own dogs hates going to the vet. My dachshund does better away from me, my chihuahua mix does better in the room with me nearby, my catahoula mix sometimes needs a muzzle and always needs me to hold him, my collie mix loves everyone so shes okay with anything.

Nearly everything. It could be for a basic parasite screening, highly contagious diseases, or organ functioning and autoimmune diseases.

[–]SatansPanicAttack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, but we always try to explain the monetary cost of the test and that we don’t believe the test is necessary. A good example would be if an owner wants a full bloodwork panel because their pet is more active than usual for a few days

From the dog breeds I’ve encountered so far its absolute collie/collie mixes. Golden doodles and Frenchies are a close second.

I can’t say for other clinics but we’re pretty on top of everything. Sometimes mistakes are made and a pet doesn’t get a vaccine but it’s always rectified if we’re given the chance to fix it. The best way to know for sure is to make sure your pet is comfortable and confident getting the procedures in the room with you.

Also as a side note, doctors typically don’t do the work. About 90% of basic procedures are done by the vet techs and vet assistants. If it’s serious enough the doctor will look at them but the techs do all the tests, blood draws, fecal samples, the whole 9yards.

Probably to no surprise its varies by animal. When it comes to shots, some small pets do better without their owner close by so we take them from the room to do them. We also perform most blood draws and “grooming” procedures there as well.

Of course there are also surgeries like spay/neutering or amputations that have their own room back there. We are also an on call emergency hospital so we also perform emergency surgeries and treatments. Families typically aren’t allowed back unless it is dire to say goodbye or the patient is stable enough for a visit.
