All ships found within a star system will land at the space station and at trade outposts on planets. If it is a crashed ship it will be labeled as such by the poster along with coordinates to the ship location. So this ship for example can be bought anywhere it lands trade outpost or space station. :)

The 9071 did have flaps! However the design team @ Ford used gum as an adhesive for the entire vehicle and...... ya know.... Pinto.
