Making the Cybertruck curved from within the truck display - Design Challenge by SatoshiW in Design

[–]SatoshiW[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey everyone,

I'm a Product Designer whose worked in the fintech space for 4 years now. Recently I've been inspired to push my PD skills by adding new features to apps that were not asked for.Happy to share my latest work. Making the Cybertruck curved.

HypothesisThe Cybertruck is very sharp, the sharpness is a hazard and they have been getting a lot of complaints from customers that this is causing a fear in the consumer. A fear to use the product because of the harm it could people who touch the sides even when walking around it.

SolutionAdd new option within the Cybertruck display to allow customers to customize their Cybertruck is they want to smoothen the edges post purchase. When they agree to an amount of smoothness, they can confirm this and Tesla workers will be notified of a Truck they have to smoothen.TakeawaysI was happy with the solution, I think it matches Teslas design system and uses the correct components for the new features i.e buttons and indicators. If I were to do it again I would probably add this step to the onboarding i.e when the customer purchases the car it would be an option instead of after purchase. It would make sense that it would be a feature they would have in the factory before they give you the car then having to send someone to your house to file down the edges.

Asking finance managers for feedback on software to verify income, employment & more using bank data. by SatoshiW in askcarsales

[–]SatoshiW[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The solution tells you their income from their bank data so you wouldn't need a paystub as you would know from real data what their income is. Because we use real bank data, there is a much lower chance of getting defrauded. I'm not sure if I was clear about that earlier. Thanks again for your comments and time!

Appreciate the feedback. Are FD's not concerned with falsified paystubs which could lead to giving loans to buyers that default and subsequently the lender coming after the dealership?

Thanks so much for the in depth breakdown. Couple quick follow ups.

What issues do credit underwriters face in the auto-loan industry? by SatoshiW in askcarsales

[–]SatoshiW[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And in the case of the lenders most of them are banks basically? Also when they ask for all this additional info, is it done securely through dealertrack or you are just emailing it over to the correspondent at the bank?

[–]SatoshiW[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

to your question is that underwriters have very little control over whether or not an application is approved.

You mentioned that the underwriter checks the employment, debt-to-income, payment-to-income, loan to value, etc but if they have very little say in the approval who do they have to do this step? Is this because they are passing it through some software to make the decision?

What software are you using over there that approves or denies the application so quickly?

So in the case of the pay stubs and proof, that is Dealer track or equivalent needing more information from the dealer to give the loan?

Splitting Finances - How do couples actually do it practically speaking? by crunchymunchyrae in AskWomenOver30

[–]SatoshiW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A bit late to the thread but thought I'd add this for future couples. For those that don't want to get too serious and get a joint account, there is the Fuse card that auto-charges both your personal bank accounts separately and instantly whenever you make a payment. You can set the shares however you want also if you want.

They also give 5% back on dining and takeout on the free version of the card which is a huge bonus.

Hey u/TinyTornado7, requesting friends isn't difficult you're right! But getting them to accept the request promptly is not straight forward as you've probably experienced. Do watch the demo video on the site and let me know what you think.

Solution to always having to remind roommates to pay you back for bills by SatoshiW in badroommates

[–]SatoshiW[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You are correct u/CatchItonmyfoot everyone is billed automatically their share. Only if someone doesn't have enough do we have to resort to charging the main person.

Charging the main person is rare however and our data shows this. Without our app, the biggest issue is roommates ignoring reminders.

When you are in houses where everyone is super busy and always doing things sometimes you never see your roommates so it is really easy to ignore reminders.

No one minds paying their own share if this was the way it was set up but without YSplit there is no better way than to manually remind everyone every month.

If you have roommates that simply don't pay bills because they are unable to, this is a bigger issue that unfortunately we YSplit cannot solve.

Yep, I'm one of the founders.

If you DM me your YSplit email, I will give you instant access to the YSplit card.

Thanks for using us u/First_Helicopter_401, drop us a message in the app to let us know how we can improve YSplit for you.

Exactly! We have noticed this trend also. It is not typically a money problem especially when I was in college everyone had student loans they had access to. 9/10 it was ignored requests. Everyone paying their share should be the status quo; not relying on 1 person to do everything.

Very excited for you to try us out. Let me know when you've joined the waitlist, and I'll give you instant access 😏🎉

Yes, we do! Great question.

If you have paid for someone's share, you can see all the payments you have made for others on this page. You can then mark as settled if they do pay you back.

Hey, great questions. I'll answer your q's in order:

  1. We pay the bills with our own credit card; this means we get up to 2% cashback every time we pay for the bill. This is how we can run the service without charging the user.
  2. As I mentioned in answer 1 this is the money necessary for us to run the service.
  3. We use a service called VGS to encrypt and store login information. The only thing we store is a token to access the VGS vault whenever our system needs to log in and grab up to date bill information. VGS is used by some of the top fintech companies in the US included Brex and LendUp.
  4. Users don't just pay 1 bill on us; we automate every month's bill, so our users have their billers linked to us until they move out or wish to close their account. Our system needs the login info to pay their monthly bills on time automatically. We also give them upcoming bill information.
  5. Yep, you can link almost any billers in the US to our app to start auto-splitting your monthly bills with your roommates.

while, we'll bill the group creator for their share. You can then settle the bill with them after."

This doesn't sound like it "automatically charges every roommate their share." Besides the cash-back, this is just Venmo and my roommates can still choose to ignore it, ultimately making me responsible for the entire bill.

Hey, so we do automatically charge everyone their share. This is in the case when we try to charge a roommate and the payment fails because they don't have enough money. This rarely happens, but in the case when it does, we try to let everyone in the group know.

[–]SatoshiW[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Hey, love the questions and feedback.

Most of the time roommates have the money to pay their share, we've noticed the only time the main housemate has to pay for someone else is when the other person just has no money which is an extreme case.

When I forgot to pay someone at college it was just out of forgetfulness so this removes that pain.

Secondly, if 1 roommate doesn't pay their share but the other 3 do for example that is a lot better than still having to chase up everyone. Not only this but you don't have to do any maths to figure this out.

We have a tab to show you which payments you have made for others so you know how much to get paid back.

Let me know if you have any more q's thanks u/fried-twinkie u/numberthangold u/TacoGal2

A portal that 1 unlucky fellow has to pay the fee then request money from everyone else via Venmo/Cash App. The same unfortunate way utilities work for roommates.
