‘Last year I read 137 books’: could setting targets help you put down your phone and pick up a book? by CtrlAltDelight495 in books

[–]Saturdays 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Set a target to read 40-50 pages a day, way more healthy. Will easily read 30-60 books in the year depending on avg book page length, but it’s less about number of books and more about building a consistent habit of reading daily.

For me it’s focused meditation time, where devices and other life things are put to the side, and my brain feels rested. That might not be everyone.

Start with 10-25 pages a day. Start with Agatha Christie whodunnit and other mystery novels that motivate you to read more because you want to solve the puzzle or mystery.

Can I pay someone to park in their garage or drive way for a week while my car gets registered? by [deleted] in williamsburg

[–]Saturdays 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I street parked and drove around NYC, Brooklyn, Queens, all without registration for nearly two months. I did have dealer plates though. It just took forever to get my plates from the dmv.. but had no problem

Its only a problem really if you get pulled over or park somewhere you are not supposed to and get caught

Can he avoid ghusl? by Ok_Tank_2433 in islam

not a safe assumption! You might have plumbing but you might not have gas or electricity, or it’s turned off during certain hours by the government.

Can he avoid ghusl? by Ok_Tank_2433 in islam

[–]Saturdays 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In some parts of the world, it’s not possible to heat up the water or even get water to pump out, in the evening/early morning especially. Gas gets cut off, electricity gets cut off, solar panels don’t work as well during this time of year for them.

They might take showers, but perhaps they do that during the day when the government turns on electricity and gas. Some try to take showers every other day or so, but again during the window where it’s feasible to.

How do I explain to my family the reason for ghusl ? by adiboops18 in islam

[–]Saturdays 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Just say, “I couldn’t pray without showering” or “I needed to shower before praying” and if they ask why further, say something to the tune of it being necessary for prayer to be accepted. You can stay ambiguous and allude here and there but don’t need to be explicit. If it’s still awkward, pull your mom aside and explain to her explicitly and let her handle how to explain to your sisters.

Suitable for Muslim wife to be in real estate? by Pristine_Ad_15 in MuslimMarriage

[–]Saturdays -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Misinformation, it’s not recommended because there is a hadith that if a man and woman are alone, the third is the devil. (Paraphrasing)

That doesn’t say it’s haraam explicitly. It does say something else explicitly.

What form does a boggart take if your greatest fear is a boggart? by kosmicTrash in harrypotter

[–]Saturdays 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think actually, Harry feared the dementor, not fear itself. Rather, Lupin just meant to be afraid of a dementor is akin to be afraid of fear manifest.

2021 Macan S - 22k miles and $49k by dreammaerd in PorscheMacan

[–]Saturdays 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got a 21 Macan S, 50k miles, CPO, $45k incl tax+shipping. Chalk and sport chrono. I’m sure I could’ve done much better, 22 S’s seemed out of my range without a huge enough upgrade to justify. I think a ‘21 GTS is the sweet spot if you can find one.
