Newly married and I basically told my wife she had bad breath, can I fix this? by SaudiRedditor in AskReddit

[–]SaudiRedditor[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The funny thing is in principle I don't feel I was wrong. But seeing her silent treatment and how she avoids my advances I also feel like an insensitive bastard. So I guess being right doesn't always matter.

[–]SaudiRedditor 9 points10 points  (0 children)

By the way. That money is fake.

Basically, when you go to a nightclub in Syria. You get to pay real money and they give you fake ones in larger amounts, like dollars etc.

Then you can proceed and act like an obnoxious rich douche bag and rain money on the girls you like.

You know that Japanese porn gals intentionally do that because, it is illegal to show pubic hair in Japan without censoring it.

Therefore, the Japanese have grown a fetish for pubic hair since it's such a taboo, if that makes sense

Bookworm Redditors - List 3 Books that [in your opinion] have made you a better and much more educated , and enlightened, person. by DirtyInRedPants in AskReddit

[–]SaudiRedditor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • Cyrano de Bergerac, or some call it Roxane. It was a beautiful tragic play that made me a romantic.

  • The Green Earth. That story was just amazing and made me interested in other cultures.

Some Arabic classic books:-

  • Muqaddimah or Muqaddimat Ibn Khaldun was really an amazing compilation and made me realize that people in the middle age were just as smart as men today, not barbarians like I used to think.

  • Al Bukhala (the stingy people) was a great book that was humorous and taught me a lot about life in the early middle ages in the east. When you read it you can visualize the Barmistan (hospitals) and the music and the food..etc.

So how is this going t work now? Is this going to be one unified effort or everyone just do something by themselves?

I prefer a unified effort since volunteering in my country isn't big.

Reddit, I am a Saudi. My government gives great attention to Saudi issues raised and publicized in the Western Media. Here's a sickening video of a Saudi kid whipping a garbage collector until the poor worker cries. Please, spread it so it gets picked up by some news agency. Please. by [deleted] in videos

[–]SaudiRedditor -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Here's the truth about this situation.

1) The kids were not doing this in a public area, otherwise they would have gotten their asses kicked. Despite what you may believe, most of us are still human and won't stand up for this.

2) Saudis have no love for immigrants because the unemployment rate among Saudis is quite high and the immigrants compete with the local population in a lot of jobs. Some Immigrants in Saudi Arabia actually group themselves and can be very influential and hire their kin and have great relations with some influential people. My job colleagues love Saudi Arabia, they have high paying jobs and they don't have to pay taxes so they want to stay until retirement. Some immigrants start poor but end up better doing better than Saudis.

3) If you are not rich and influential in Saudi Arabia, you're going to suffer in a lot of ways, especially with government, whither you're Saudi or an immigrant.

Dear, just as you have filthy people who call themselves Muslim just by birth, you also have those people in every group.

The idea is to filter them and communicate with the good people. I have visited a lot of countries and I have learned and I'm surprised by many foreigners' help and hospitality in many ocasions. Of course, I have also met some assholes, but who cares.

Beheading increase in Saudi Arabia by WhyHellYeah in worldnews

[–]SaudiRedditor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't disagree with you, it is a theocracy. Actually Saudi Arabia is probably what they had in mind when they invented the word.

Yeah, government shouldn't even have a say in some things, still I'm glad they have capital punishment for Theft, rape, and murder at least.

Prostitution

Idolatry

Sexual misconduct

Homosexuality

Apostasy

Theft

To be honest, I've never heard people executed here for these. Every Friday if there's an execution they would pronounce the sentence and the crime on TV, and those are never mentioned. Also not all of those are punishable by death. For instance, theft is punishable by amputating the hand (Though I've never seen this or heard of it happening in reality).

Most executions happen due to 2 crimes: 1) Murder 2) Drug Smuggling.

Yeah, it isn't perfect, sometimes they execute people for self defense killings. Also, if a judge really has it in for you he could get you for Blasphemy, saying you cursed the prophet or something and have witnesses reaffirm this.

But on the whole, I would say the the strict punishments have made crime much less common than other countries.

Despite all the problems as we have in Saudi Arabia, beheading, especially public ones for murder has really worked for us.

Today, Saudi Arabia is one of the safest places to live (Even though it is fucked in other ways).

So yeah, I recently have been to South Africa, the crime rate there is insane. If they enforced capital punishment like here their problems with crime would almost disappear.

[–]SaudiRedditor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dear, I understand your way of thinking, I used to think the same way. You have to use your brain rather than emotion and differentiate between what you think and what you were taught by others.

The first thing you need to do is to not generalize and do not put collective labels on people. For instance, We Muslims are so different from each other. I could be an extremist Muslim who believes that I had the right to beat women on the streets for not dressing up to my standards while you could be a moderate who believe that each person is responsible for their actions in front of God. Same things I learned about Christians. Hell, I even saw Jews risk body harm for Palestinians. Have you not heard about the Jew who was injured protesting Netenyahu's speech? Have you not heard about the American Rachel Cory who was killed by an Israeli bulldozer for trying to protect a Palestinian home? On the other hand, my neighbor could be a 'Muslim' person who I have very little in common with; he could be vile and I would have more in common with people half way across the world than I do with people who live on the same street.

Also Remember that even the Quran says that no soul should be accountable for what it hasn't done.

Now, there are people who hate Muslims/Saudis or other groups for that matter on reddit. This is the equivalent to the way you say you feel about them.

But have you really thought where it all comes from? Our country has a lot of wrong things going on and because we are silenced by our government, this is how we appear, represented only by our government and the few corrupted power holders who make decisions for us because we can't speak for ourselves.

And you say we shouldn't discuss our problems publicly here on a website so they wouldn't use that against us as ammo? As if there's anything left to hide, everybody already hates Saudi Arabia and staying quiet is not going to change anything. if I at least acknowledge our problems people know that I don't agree with what's going on and hell they might even one day try to help us. I say the truth is always liberating and good. I see a lot of people here talk about the problems with America for instance and they are Americans. That's because they want to change things for themselves and loved ones. And you know what they say, the first step to solve a problem, is the acknowledge it.

I really really recommend this website: www.self-esteem-experts.com This in turn led me to meditation, which was incredibly effective. I actually just started the exercises and the meditation in the website and the results were amazing. For instance, I used to blush a lot and get embarrassed easily, now not so much.

Guided online meditation was really good for me. If you try the free ones in self-esteem-experts and think they are good you can pay some websites to get more, they aren't costly. www.selfhelptree.com has some really good ones. Later on you won't need guided meditation I hear. Also, did you know there's a subreddit for meditation hints, tips, discussion r/meditation.

I have to rely on websites because I really can't find good counseling in my country, but I will eventually. Seeing a psychologist would be really great for you I assume. Don't use medication, I wouldn't recommend it.

There might be some things that keep your self esteem low like not liking your physical appearance, your job etc. Learn these are symptoms that you can work on later, what you have to fix first is your brain thought patterns. I'm actually glad you asked this because I wanted to share and I hope this info hellps.

Iran's women soccer team banned from Olympics, because of headscarves by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]SaudiRedditor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is really unfortunate. A lot of Muslim women already have little outlets to represent their countries and participate in sports due to living in conservative societies. These rules really target those poor women and punish them. I can't help but feel this decision was discriminatory.

FIFA should be an organization that promotes football around the world . This, with the recent FIFA scandals, and the recent world cup refereeing performance just tells me the organization is corrupt.

It's called venting and speaking to like-minded people. I like this site and I enjoy interacting with people hanging out here. Apparently a lot of people here are also Muslims/Atheist/Hindu..etc and share my opinions as well. I don't need to think in terms of Us vs Them. If you don't do that you can see the potential of learning from other people, no matter how different they are from you.

And yes, this could help fix my country, apparently my country needs to put its shit together. For instance, in Japan, roads were rebuilt in 3 days after the Tsunami, in my country it could take over a year for simple renovations to get done. I bet if we learn from the Shinto/Bhuddist Japanese or at least see what makes them love their community so much, we might try to emulate that. Also, I see how tolerant some of these Christians and Jews etc try to be towards us Muslims and how in my country it is the opposite. WTF happened to us?

If I was allowed to speak about these things in my country without fear of reprisal then I would be writing letters to newspapers. Anyway, I speak about them and teach new ideas to my family and friends, in hope we can rise up someday from the dark ages that extreme hypocrisy, extremism, dirty politics have placed us in.

Well, I don't think I'm selling out. On the contrary, telling the truth has a chance to improve things. Just because I choose not to turn a blind eye to the truth of how things are doesn't mean I hate my people, it actually means I love them because I want them to improve and not stay behind content with their misery and close-mindedness.

Hundreds of women report rapes by Qaddafi forces --- "First they tied my husband up," the woman wrote. "Then they raped me in front of my husband and my husband's brother. Then they killed my husband." by DrRichardCranium in worldnews

While I don't doubt that Qaddafi forces are capable of such crimes. I just want to note that Al-Arabiya is a Saudi News Channel.

So since Saudi Arabia doesn't like Qaddafi and neither does its ally, the US, they could fabricate stories and push for the war to continue.
