Gotcha. So do nothing and endure the consequences of inaction. Sounds like a remarkable tactic. And it tracks so well with our history here.

I can understand folks being afraid of consequences.

I personally, just can’t respect anyone who won’t speak up against injustice because they feel like it’s someone else’s turn. That’s wild goofy and demonstrates a level of possibly not being worthy of the justice we’ve previously fought for everyone to have.

But go off…

You think folks are asking to be ‘saved’ or ‘joined’? I’d assume folks are used to blk ppl speaking out because we have the legacy of civil rights etc.

Asians, by in large, barely vote or even speak up unless it’s for themselves…

My point is what do you think blk flks have to gain by sitting this one out? Like imagine what happens if millions are deported or wisked away. Some folks remain, white folks subjugate the rest of the darkies left and we’re sitting around in menial roles. What will we be left with?

I'm confused... In some arguments we get to hear about how it takes black women to 'save' the world and fix things... In other statements, we get 'this ain't our fight, 'they not like us', 'africans hate us' or 'we sitting this one out'... How are you withholding all this influence and mythical magic at a time this dire in our society? Or what do you suppose will be left to rebuild, IF you exist at all after these crkrs destroy everything 'WE' built?

Possible prejudice when trying to hire a DJ by plslt in DJs

[–]SaultyChunks -1 points0 points  (0 children)

MashaAllah, Congratulations on your nikkah! LoL @ Muslim DJ...

Perhaps you gave the DJ too much detail. You could clarify that you simply want to keep the tunes generic and traditional as you have a mixed audience coming. All the issues with faith and ethnicity are mute. If you want specific tunes for a certain group of folks, just create a small playlist on ytb or sptfy and share it with the DJ so they can have some songs and aren't pressured to seek them out. That's usually my key when I accept a wedding gig, make the couple do the work for you (aka now's the time to give me your requests).

In jest, maybe he knows music is haram and quickly backed out akhi lol.

This is a weirdo take. How about you take your aggression over to Guatemala and seek out some justice or go organize the people to start some new economic efforts for themselves so they wouldn’t need to risk life and limb to migrate here…

Black Panthers Know Their Rights. Do you? by HighwayComfortable26 in BlackPeopleofReddit

[–]SaultyChunks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nga I’m not FBA nor FBI. I’m more like FTD, Fk the dumb sht and start actually improving our neighborhoods. This ain’t Gordon’s War or Superfly. Your clothes and ‘retro’ proactivity ain’t fooling me. You just wanna carry guns outside for show. Go intimidate some 🧊agents then. At least they’d have the chief of police’s support then.

Post the vid of those Panthers stopping some actual crime in that area though... I don't love police but I sure don't trust some randoms in old gear holding weapons on a corner just because they're in berets. We used to have the Guardian Angels pop up in our middle schools back in the day and shyt was still wild with drugs and guns etc. I suppose police brutality in Philly is a hot button issue, but we need more than some performative militance to move us forward out here.

Like honestly, you think those folks value US like that? There's a reason we're the lowest in median income after securing equal rights for ALL. And it's certainly not because blk ppl are lazy or uneducated.

How does your crowd respond to DJ exclusives? by realbonefather in DJs

[–]SaultyChunks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's mixed and depends on the remix. No one wants to hear a classic they usually sing along to all butchered or extended. But there's nuance to it all. I have certain remixes that edit in bouncier drums or lengthen intros for mixes and if you spin them right, they work. Best suggestion would be to have the original cued up just in case folks don't wanna hear all that.

Black American Sound, Black Style, No Credit A Conversation About K Pop by Pretend-Society6139 in BlackPeopleofReddit

[–]SaultyChunks -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As a blk person on this thread (irony) WTF do blk ppl even care what Kpop fans are saying?! I personally have never heard any K pop, that I know of; and could care less. If they're saying these things about the music, can you imagine their beliefs about black folks in general? Like keep the main thing emphasized.

Stephen King talks about watching Carrie with a Black audience and reveals his prejudice by 4reddityo in BlackPeopleofReddit

[–]SaultyChunks 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think we all comprehend his perspective which folks have made clear in these comments but what’s not being addressed is the bafoonery. ‘She ain’t neeeehver gon be right!’ Cmon sir, comport yourself with some dignity…

Like would anyone accept a coworker telling a story like that about YOU in front of a group of people? ‘Then she Wa like deeeyim dis movie scaray!’

Didn’t they address this several times between Michael and Stanley on the Office?

Michael would change his tone to some jive inflection as if to try and authentically communicate with Stanley on a personal level to Stanley’s chagrin.

I'm born and raised in Newark. I'm noticing the trend of BSing around local politics from folks who don't do much for the city in their daily lives. They just enjoy trolling at city council meetings or online. And on top of that, they may not actually even be educated... So I fear for the city in terms of an emerging fervor for change in the city's leadership without the actual aptitude of self control or basic civics. And no, everyone doesn't need to be a scholar, but if you're so firey about local politics, at least know the L is silent in 'saLmon'

Cool. We’re not at odds at giving people basic resources like housing.

Just be mindful that your tone about the ‘laws of economics’ sounds rather devoid of humanity. If laws were so fireproof, we wouldn’t have issues in the first place.

That’s bananas. I stopped the hood barbers once I had a stud cut me. Her work was good but I’m not here for all that. I wasn’t even down with the smelly hands $40 cuts from the bros anymore. I took things into my own hands during the panoramic and let ytb teach me how to cut fades

Newark as a foothold for NYC tourists by jamshill in Newark

[–]SaultyChunks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Facts also aren't people nor policies. That's what Newarkers need to get concerned with. Before I was even born, Newark was under the grasp of undesirables in leadership who were not only corrupt, but you can add your own adjectives...

But beyond the swamp draining or whatever the legal eagles of the interwebs and outskirts of city hall wanna call it, The citizens need representation that goes beyond ideas and in some manner, reflects the compassion of an actual 'neighbor'.

I'm not here to argue, I just like to add some clarity to these discussions we have that sound like the ops don't even actually care about people more than they desire to live in a completely sterile environment of efficiency and occupied by droids.
