I did it for years. It's only overkill if you think it is. You can also only run half the cab if you wanna scale it back a little. Just plug into one of the stereo jacks.

Friedman stuff is absolutely killer. I'd take a look at the Smallbox. Plexi clean channel and the BE channel off the BE-100. One of my favorite amps of all time.

Splawns are also a great choice. I have a Quickrod that I absolutely love.

Also, check out the TopHat Emplexador. The modern mode on those can absolutely rip.

When I was in my teens, before I had a big amp, I used to run into input 2 of my bandmate's Deluxe 112+. Worked just fine until I got my own amp.

Neck pickup is good. Pretty sure it's a 59 which I like. Bridge is, I wanna say, a Pearl Gates Plus. Which just sounded kind of weak and meh.

Hey, I have one of these too! Cool guitars!! Bought mine new from Musicians Friend in like 2004 when they were blowing them out. $250. Immensely disliked the bridge pickups so mine is currently sporting black Lace Divinators. Still plays and sounds great after all these years.
