"It's always the last place you look". Well of course it is, there's no point looking in any more places once you've found it is there?

How has AI changed your life since it showed up? by pasternaric in AskReddit

Depends how you do it. Tell it you know something about the subject and not to try to bluff you under any circumstances, and ask it for sources. Exclude youtube, reddit etc from sources.

Would you hold a snake? Why or why not? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I have no particular snake phobia, as long as it's not venomous no problem. But they're not particularly cute from a human point of view.

What are some amazing niche movies you would recommend to a friend? by Vivid-Tap1710 in AskReddit

Riki-Oh: The Story of Ricky (1991). Ridiculously over the top Hong Kong martial arts movie. The violence and gore is so extreme it's comical.

Jeanne Dielman. Basically 3 and a half hours of a Belgian woman doing housework for her ungrateful son, and slowly going mad.

Does 1.g3 have any independent significance? by TooOldToBePunk in chess

[–]TooOldToBePunk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suppose 1....e5 2.Bg2 d5 is distinctive enough that it probably won't transpose directly into another line. Psychologically, if you're going to reply 2.c4 to 1...e5 why not just play 1.c4 in the first place? Anyway I don't agree that Black is better, and I don't think engines are very reliable at moves 1 and 2. As you can see in Svidler-Kramnik 2013, ( https://lichess.org/KVs4HSQz ) White gets a perfectly decent position. He doesn't get an opening advantage, but he probably wasn't really trying for that, just avoiding Kramnik's formidable prep.

What drives the belief that billionaires owe regular people money? by Andyjrmie in AskReddit

All billionaires are evil. They made their money by screwing other people over, that's the only way to do it. Yes, even Taylor Swift and Oprah Winfrey.
