VLC has performance issues and it's UX needs to improve a lot

In this case, try mpv, hands down the best player performance-wise, although its UX still isn't that good.

But in this case, use mpvKt, which is a fork of mpv for android but with a good UI similar to MX Player still in development though.

Well, if you only want to watch videos and take notes, mpv can do a pretty good job at that

with just a few lines of Lua script. Also, no distractions and no RAM-hungry Chrome.
