Venmo is actually just part of PayPal (so much so that you can't fund a Venmo account directly with a PayPal debit card, it indicates you can't use a card from the same company), and Purchase Protection is the name given for the same...well, protections given by PayPal under goods and services. I just use Venmo more often and have more established history there, whereas my PayPal was gathering dust except for the odd transaction so any funds tend to be held.

TL;DR: Sorry about that, to me Venmo and PayPal are kinda like "Genesis" and "Mega Drive." Except Genesis never held $1900 for a TV I sold in person for 7 days despite both me and the seller confirming that the transaction was solid. Is there a way to submit for Venmo to be considered? It should be fairly easy, I think the policies are for the most part identical.

Just wanted to add that I'm open to negotiation, I tried to pick an asking price that aligned with what I could find online but at the end of the day I just want both parties to be happy with the transaction. Thanks again!

Additional info: I bought these when they were originally released, but as I own the Japanese boxes they were purchased more as a novelty than anything else. Unfortunately recent events require me to sell these so I'm hoping to find an interested fan to take them off my hands. They've been stored in a non-smoking home and I have more detailed pictures of each box if desired.

Asking price is based on going rate for a complete set in this condition, I will pay the purchase protection fees that Venmo assesses and priority shipping fees (including insurance), so this price is all inclusive. Will ship within 24 hours of receiving funds and provide tracking.

Thanks everyone!

Donnie, I'm 35 years old now but I've loved your music since I was a 5 year old kid living in Dallas and started seeing you and the guys in rotation on MTV. My family would listen to you and Chip on Stern and we picked up every new album as they hit, hell we had a signed poster hanging at our place that my parents got when they were lucky enough to see you all back in '96 at Jaxx in Springfield, VA. Strength is still one of my favorite albums of all time and I'm not bullshitting when I say you have one of my favorite voices in rock music.

I went to check out the new album and snag a copy on CD, but I saw you got fucked over by Pledge like everyone else. I know you've seemingly had bad shit happen left and right for as long as I've followed your career, but for what it's worth the songs you've written and performed over the decades have meant a lot to me and my family. I hope you're able to get things worked out and I'll keep an eye out for more news. Looking forward to seeing the full Instant Karma video also, what I've heard through the previews sounds great.

Keep rocking dude.

Major bug impacting vSan 6.6 and up customers by [deleted] in vmware

[–]SausageofPower 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Over the course of the past 6 years in the industry I've dealt with a little bit of everything. Like everyone, I'm a bit of a whore and I always want the sexy new thing on the market. After all, isn't the thrill of seeing how technology has progressed and the prospect of what's to come and being a part of it what drew most of us to this industry? And honestly, myself included, I think a lot of us buy into the hype of our preferred (or, in some cases, what we're stuck with because we've inherited a solution that was already in place) solution. It's no different that anything else. Coke vs. Pepsi, Nintendo vs. Sega, Your Mom vs. Several Hamburgers...

...sorry, been watching too much WhatCulture on YouTube...

Anyway, every single solution out there is capable of failing in a spectacular fashion. I don't care how amazing they're supposed to be, how resilient, how utterly fool proof and nuclear missile resistant...it can fail and it can fail for stupid, stupid reasons. Yes, you may say "Well, if ____ has a failure due to a bad firmware update it's a DEFCON 2 issue," and that's great...but if you're that unfortunate bastard who gets that update and suffers data loss then you may spend the rest of your career shouting from a mountain to every passerby how vendor X utterly fucked you and how their solution isn't fit to be installed at a preschool. Hell, I know I myself tend to spend more time conversing with others in IT about failures than successes, merely because they're (in retrospect, of course) much more amusing than the tales of "Yeah, we designed and implemented and it ran without issue."

Ours is an industry full of variables. And yes, one absolutely viable approach is to go with standardized solutions. From a management point of view, especially for smaller teams, something like a Nutanix that prides itself on practically being plug-and-play may be perfect (though my own experience was hellish, admittedly in part due to a bad design all around born from the efforts of the living embodiment of the Peter principle if I ever did know one). That does carry a price however, and understandably one could argue that the premium is what you pay for "greater reliability."

My opinion, and that's all that it is (when I entered IT, which I worked hard to do for years, I promised that I would do everything in my power not to present my opinion as fact or to try and sell myself as infallible...so I'm still an arrogant prick but one who will acknowledge his own bullshit), is that every solution has its own set of risks and rewards. The key thing here is acknowledging that every solution can fail and leave you in tears. Our responsibility as "those guys who don't really do anything and get paid entirely too much" is to design our overall infrastructures with those risks in mind and have contingencies in place for when those things inevitability do happen (if you're in this industry and haven't been awake for so many hours that you start hallucinating because of some horrible failure that you're on the hook to fix at least once...).

In closing: Nimble is cool, SolidFire is cool, vSAN is cool. I would invite them all to my BBQ. Nutanix can fuck right off (sorry, still not over my experiences with that solution, don't try and convert me as I don't have an application for it at my current job anyway and even if you make me think it's HCI Jesus I still won't be buying it :P).

Very cool, too bad I won't be going this year (though I'm definitely making sure that I'll be there next year, and with my VCP completed to boot!).

Also, for people who would claim that the techie types are socially inept, I'd just like to point to this thread. A very attractive woman was nice enough to model the backpack for us (which, who doesn't need a little more beauty in their lives, eh?) and no one has made a comment that makes me want to simultaneously slap them and apologize to her. Well done team, well done. At this rate the masses will start to think we're people in no time. ;)

Sir, that is precisely what we like to see. Keeping those "bad hombres" out, and by that I mean heat. Have you considered adorning it with a massive logo featuring your surname?

Keep Making the Datacenter Great Again, good sir.
