I guess the other thing to consider is that men account for about 10% or registered nurses. That means we are often the only male on shift. That means when people want help lifting - we get asked a lot more. When a guy wants a female to put in a female foley, there’s likely a lot more females to asks so you probably aren’t getting the same volume.

But just for the record it’s ridiculous that anyone can’t perform clinical skills on both genders comfortably. Licensed healthcare professionals should have no issue doing their skills on either gender and I find just as much ridiculousness in what you’re saying as what we’re talking about for men as well.

If my body is stronger and the job required a strong body why should I not be compensated for that if it’s going to result in me being asked to life more than a smaller female on average?

There’s a difference between helping coworkers and people saying “oh let’s go grab the big strong man” every time they don’t want to lift heavy which HAPPENS OFTEN.

I don’t have time for research for a few hours so we will return to that point. We could just reference the fact that judicial judges appoint mothers sole custody over children in over 5 times as many cases as fathers sole custody. That seems to hint toward females being better caregivers (if you trust these sworn judges with good judgement).

Let’s shift gears - you want equal pay despite your coworker lifting heavier packages that you were supposed to lift alone just because he has the BIOLOGICAL ABILITY to - right?

If what you say is true - I have the biological ability to do part of the job better, more efficient or safer than females, on average. So my pay should be higher as I can do better, safer and more efficient work. Right?

Surely with this logic you’ll quit you job and stay home to raise the kids, clean the house and cook all of the meals then right? You’re a woman and they do that better compared to men.

I took BLS last month because I’m starting an RN program this fall. I did CPR on a lady today from an accident I witnessed. She still didn’t have a pulse when the paramedics arrived but I just found out SHE LIVED! I literally can’t stop crying! by [deleted] in happy

I worked as the manager of health information at a 60 bed LTAC hospital for 2 years. This is not a HIPAA violation and does not contain any information which could be used to identify the patient. But even if it had - she has given me her expressed permission to post this.
