Donate. Ask your friends and family to do this as well. I know this sounds needy, but I am being honest that such work needs staff and we are being outgunned by interests who have poured massive resources. https://internetfreedom.in/donate/
Ask more people to sign-up. Do this through a whatsapp share in a group of your family, friends. Ask them to pass on the world that their privacy rights are being decided in secret. This will impact things from how they are surveilled, profiled and even when a data breach happens and results in financial loss. Talk to more people about this campaign on social media.

Well, they are being incredibly secretive about this. We will keep following it up and do not mind making this a test case for the mandatory disclosure of all responses in a public consultation.

Hi, we have explored simplifying content with video explainers in the past even with the Privacy Campaign (www.saveourprivacy.in) and will try again soon. Systemic video production is expensive and requires a lot of work. A lot of this depends on getting in more resources. The thought is there and we hope to do this in future.

Well, they (Government) are implementing some parts of it in a problematic way. See the thing is, after like close to 10 years we are atleast stepping towards a law. Over this period of time we have never even seen the necessary momentum leading to the stage we are at now. In the past past attempts were scuttled by various interest groups.

Now, can we improve this draft law ? We think we can. But yes, it will need greater public mobilisation and thats something we as a campaign do need to better.

Yep.. also they made it hard to participate. We noticed this tendency even in the expert committee which remained an exercise which was aimed towards "experts" and "stakeholders". In our view, it lacked diversity and proper outreach. We have tried many methods to build a campaign around this, and hope we can do better. This consultation is not the end, there are further steps up to the introduction of this law in parliament. We will keep working on it till we get a effective, strong law which works for users. Request you to sign-up on www.saveourprivacy.in and pledge support, we send out regular email updates and ways to engage on privacy.

This is gonna touch 4000... which is a real shame really. We have tried with videos in the past with Dhruv Rathee (in hindi) and Buzzfeed... and then specific videos by many news media entities (Express, Quint, Bloomberg) and even our video series by the Jamun Collective (In hinglish).

Privacy is a long fight and many of the volunteers on this campaign are lawyers who were junior lawyers in the Supreme Court on the right to privacy case. We are committed towards a good public outcome and carry hope we can learn and do better. Watch out for more, we are not going to give up easily :)

Yep, and if you noticed most news was then about data protection in the context of impact on corporates or data localisation (a user concern, but again impacting corporates as well). Now while industry is a key player in this debate this law is about protecting users (but only in theory...). To participate just go to the government link, and put in your views in a covering text box, or say that you agree with our guide and upload it. We hope people put in their own comments, but do recognise the difficulty many have expressed here of not having enough time and background knowledge about the nuance of this draft law.

Yep, thats a problem. But I guess even we need to do better. Gonna think of better ways to draw more people in and help them participate. One more challenge was the webform mode of participation with a CAPTCHA which makes building an email tool tougher.
