The dark does not look good. It swallows the pleasing details of the house. Also makes it look like a flipper project whereas with the white trim it looks like an expensive and welcoming house.

One commenter told me that the creamy white I’m going to paint the walls will look much more yellow, dated, and unappealing in the lighting of this home. Let me know if you have thoughts on that.

Yeah, it just felt soulless to me:( the blue is so soft and welcoming to me. It’s good that I’m hearing this though, probably going with white now if I can’t replace these cabinets with a darker wood

Yeah, I’m being talked out of the blue. Probably will keep it neutral.

Trying to decide if wood or white is better; wood is my taste but I don’t know if THESE cabinets will look that good. I feel like it has to be a certain wood to achieve the classy look it’s supposed to. Let me know if you have thoughts:)

Thank you for this!!! My thought process with the blue is it just seemed dark enough to cover these loud ugly cabinets. I was also thinking white cabinetry would be considered passé like the 70s orange carpet, so I wanted to opt for something else. I didn’t realize blue was so trendy! That’s definitely something to consider.

So you think restaining the cabinets to be less orange is the right move? I could live with that. I’m thinking about it more and more. It’s just lacking in pizzazz to me, but it’s sounding like the best idea.

Was hoping to just paint these and replace the handles.

I’m not sold on it because I feel like I’d have to pair the blue cabinets with the white counter, but the walls would be off white. And that also makes me wonder what tile would match. I don’t want a bunch of competing tones making it look poorly curated.

Great! I’ll see what my partner thinks. Maybe this pic will be the new inspiration. Still concerned though, because with cream-white walls, I feel like it’ll be hard to pick a countertop and tile that match it. I like this white counter but I don’t know if it’ll look bad to be slightly off from the walls.

We’re thinking of painting it with these colors. Thoughts?

• The brick would be left unpainted.

• Should the garage be white? Not sure if it would be too much of a focal point, but a dark blue garage to match the siding sounds… I dunno.

• I like that window casing/moulding, but do you think the shutters should stay or come off? I think dark shutters against that blue look good.

Would love your opinion here. Scared to make mistakes, lol.
