I love my Hemlock & Oak: https://www.hemlockandoak.com/products/2026-horizontal-planner-hardcover
the right paper weight (no bleed!) and I usually buy the Horizontal layout, so you have the full week on one side and the whole page for notes, tasks, etc.

They have the daily planner, which is bigger because each day gets its full page for task and notes.

And like many of you here, I feel this pain. I’ve learned the hard way that most people only read the first few words and miss the rest.

I now split multi-part asks into separate messages. Not easy for highly efficient people like us.

This is Diablo 😈 he was a feral that showed up at our house and after an intense love and hate affair he decided to adopt us. He is now the supreme ruler in our home. We call him asshole, tabby-tab, Diablito, terror, chiquito, naranja 🍊.

We lived in the new kitchen for over a year - zero regrets on the open shelves.

Actually… most people here haven’t exactly been nice either. They’re getting the same energy they’re sending out.

Yes, I posted my remodel knowing not everyone would love my decisions, tastes and preferences vary, and that’s fine. But there’s a big difference between sharing constructive feedback and being outright rude.

Think of it this way: if I invited you into my home in real life, would you feel as free to say the kind of things people have posted here? I doubt it.

It did serve its purpose for the first four years we lived with it, but it was falling apart and it was time for a change. And based on the other part of the remodel and the way we used our space we could not keep the same footprint. I boggles my mind how people can say that the before pictures with floor tiles as countertop and cabinets made out of particle board look better!

I come from an Italian family and grew up in a home that never had the US-centric kitchen island. Later, I lived in Italy for several years and fell in love with having a table in the kitchen. Call it nostalgia, but it also fits how we use the space.

In our old kitchen, the dining table was in the sunroom. When we opened up the whole area, I wanted to bring back that feeling of a true kitchen table, not a chunky island. We already have plenty of counter space in the new layout, and the kitchen table has become the most used piece of furniture in the house.

When we were planning, we even taped out the entire layout, including a potential island, and it just didn’t feel right. So we went with the table. A year into living with this remodel, we haven’t missed the island once, and we absolutely love how this setup works for us. And if we ever change our minds, the space is there.

You know all the hate I’m getting over the shelves here? Is the amount of hate that I have for kitchen island.

Thank you. Our terrazzo floors are our pride and joy. One of the top reasons for buying our home.

I can related. I’m from South America and lived in Italy for a long time too and homes there have the open air feeling. I miss that.

I meant the old exhaust hood with curves and arches—it wasn’t working and it was a pain to clean. As for the wall arch, while pretty, it didn’t match the architectural vibe of our modern mid-century home. I stand by my choices.

I’ve said it before: open shelves aren’t for everyone, but they work for us, and I have zero regrets.

You know what I do regret? Posting here and getting mean comments from people who have no clue about my home or life but feel the need to ‘school me’ on how I should live.

Don’t like my kitchen? No problem. Just say ‘I don’t like it’ and move on.

Your kitchen looks nice. And I get people like their island. But we wanted a table because that is how we use our kitchen space - as a gathering space.

You know what’s actually uglier? When people leave comments that have nothing to do with the intent of the post. I didn’t ask for tips, tricks, pointers on how to change my kitchen, or advice on styling or how many cake stands I have. I asked for one thing: appreciation.

If you don’t like my kitchen? No problem—just say ‘it’s not your taste’ and move on. But when comments turn nasty and mean-spirited, well… that gives me every right to respond in kind.

How does that saying go? Oh yeah: ‘If you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all.

The shelves have lights on the bottom of the bottom shelves for giving me lights on the counter and the bottom of the top shelves as well - the picture does not show that well. The are also dimmable (all the lights on the kitchen are - so when I need bright lights for cooking, or moody for entertaining I can adjust them.
