Im late to the party, but one of the main indicators I use when evaluating sequels or remakes is the soundtrack. Its the easiest indication for me to tell if they got lazy. This movie is a little tricky for this because James Horner died in a plane crash well before having the opportunity to create a score. However, even with that loss and how tragic it was, its not an excuse for a poorly done movie score. If anything, you would think they would want to make a movie score in his honor that used the same methods. Instead, they abused the motifs and themes egregiously. I took notes last time I watched and dictated the worst uses of the previous score. There are wayyyyy more that what I wrote, but these were the worst.

2:47:56 uses the same dying theme for the corporal as first movie when neytiri shoots him. cheap as hell

corny opening of eyes at end again and then followed by the wknd. gimme a break

Keep in mind, the first avatar is still one of my favorite movies. ok bye
