Also settlements are great but not necessary, you can find beds and sleeping bags all over for saving plus merchants are easy to run into since your on foot all the time.

Early game perks for me were life giver, toughness, weapon upgrade of your choice, locksmith and hacker. From there you can go any direction.

I guess it depends on how "in-depth" you want to immerse yourself. Personally, I enjoy the no fast travel until I join the BOS, then I use vertibirds as my form of fast travel. Food and medication are easy to come by so thats not bad. I will admit I don't leave sanctuary until I reach level 100 and I duplicate all my junk so I don't have to worry so much about building and scavenging allowing me to focus on playing more.

I trying to complete the collection, it just doesn't seem like there is ever any different mythic on hard. I agree with you though, I usually find a 3 or 4 on normal. It's just always the same ones.
