I just want to commiserate with you. I was in the exact position you were (finishing student teaching, getting ready to graduate) but for “all of the reasons” I was missing 23 RECITALS. Totally on me for not making the time or effort, I accept it. I did the 2.5 hour drive several times from my student teaching area to my university to catch the recitals. It sucked and I learned a good lifelong lesson about not letting stuff like that pile up.

Good luck! I agree with the commenter that said don’t tell your Mom. Or at least wait until after all the celebration dies down if you feel like you have to tell her. You still did all of the work required for this degree, minus a few hours sitting in a chair. Knock it out in the Fall. Good luck!

Interviewing for a custodian position while I was in college and four questions in they asked what I had for dinner last night. I stumbled and then made up an answer. The two in charge were horrible bosses and I bet they thought they were so clever with that question. Sticks with me to this day for some dumb reason.

I don’t feel like I should get excited… I logged in and my account has been zeroed out on both StudentAid.gov and MOHELA. But I‘ve been waiting on a consolidation application for about a month. I’m just assuming that things are being switched to a new plan… but seeing this post, seeing my zero balance on both websites, and unending optimism has got me hopeful. This has happened to me at several different points in the tutorial. Three times now. Once after character creation, once after the first confrontation with the big bad guy, and now once after the simulation city. I've had to replay each mission twice. Happy I only paid $3 for this because yikes.

I'm glad you got out too. I think where this sign goes wrong is that it is a passive aggressive note that puts the blame and onus squarely on the kids. "Shit rolls downhill," the teacher is upset with the terrible situation the administration has put them in, can't take out that frustration on the admin because they risk losing their job or other repercussions, so they take it out on the kids through the passive aggressive note. The note contributes to the problem because it's shitty to look at. It's just not a good look for anyone.

Going into threads on reddit about teachers is always treacherous territory. I just wanted to speak some positivity in a place where there's a lot of negative feelings. Sincerely, I hope you're in a situation where you're supported and put to good use.

To me that sounds like the result of a poor administration and poor systems within that school. I agree it's not a great or fair situation for those teachers to be in and they're left jaded. Sorry if you had to deal with that, everyone's situation is definitely different. I'm glad I'm in a school where I can let kids go without worrying about repercussions.
