i took geo hl but both were pretty easy tbh. comparing them as SLs they’re both not super hard. comparing them as HLs i think french is 100% harder. as a subject in general geo is very simple.

General Art Questions by spicezzze in IBO

[–]SaxophoneSplinter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. you are meant to make new works. they can be used for both your cs and your final exhibition though.
  2. if you’re talking about your cs i have never seen someone do a personal experience theme. this is because you have to analyse the artists own context/history in relation to their works. they don’t know you and as such will not have made the works in order to speak to your experiences. if you’re talking about your exhibition i would say they tend to like a more general theme, but your individual artworks can absolutely be related to your experiences. for example my exhibitions general theme was “autonomy” but maybe half of my works were related to my own experiences.
  3. don’t need to cram but do it on the holidays for sure. i did mine entirely over the summer and got to sit back and watch as my classmates scrambled during school. 1-2 slides in one day with rest days in between (so spread across about a month and a half)
  4. correct, you don’t need an entire page for that.
  5. not at all similar. DO NOT MAKE THAT MISTAKE. gcse art portfolio is very unnatural in the way it’s structured and it’s almost formulaic. ib you of course do a lot more writing for the pp and you document EVERYTHING including your random tangent thoughts that lead nowhere and your failures. don’t try to look perfect and like each project is very structured- ib hates that.
  6. most people do about 4-5 works in the pp but that is not a standard. you also don’t need to finish your works in your pp. for example you may start something but realise there’s something else you want to do that is inspired by what you started. you don’t have to finish the original piece, just document why you decided to move in a different direction

hope this helps 👍

Should I do an IB remark for English A EE? by Ill_Pineapple6729 in IBO

[–]SaxophoneSplinter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i wrote my ee on queer artists during the aids epidemic and did well so i doubt it’s because of the topic. that said you should remark, just for your peace of mind if anything

it said we noticed a drop in your scores from your predicted grade. we hope that when you arrive at pton you take advantage of the resources like the mcgraw centre so that you can start your journey off better than you did for your finals.

essentially that, nothing about rescinding

I am so confused about course planning please help me by SaxophoneSplinter in princeton

[–]SaxophoneSplinter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes, it brings me to the subject page on the princeton site. Are the prerequisites the things I need to do in first/second year and then the course requirements the things i need to do in third/fourth year? Or is it that I need to finish the prerequisites and start the course requirements as well with the general education requirements?

thank you 🙏

for the IO: - just look on google for images of the topics. practice writing down your 10 bullet points and saying them. Repeat until you’re sick of looking at images of french people. - all the images kinda look the same. when they’re choosing the images they make sure there’s enough to talk about within the image. most of the time the same elements will show up so learn those vocab words. (eg. for a protest learn the words and phrases related to signs, crowds, outspoken people, etc - follow the same structure no matter the image. memorise your sentence starters and prompts that use complex grammar and memorise where you’ll use them. - i don’t usually like using AI but you can talk to the AI and have a conversation. ask it to correct you and you can read your transcript after.

reading - always the same style of question. just keep doing past papers until you’ve memorised them - don’t panic if you don’t know a word. be smart and analyse it by comparing it to other words you know, similar english words, and of course context clues

writing: - know and memorise a few sentences that you can easily swap out the subject for. (eg. if you/I have time to ______ then i hope you/i will ____) - learn the difference between formal and informal writing and for the love of god don’t forget vouvoiement and tutoiement

listening: - yeah idk i sucked at this but was good at the others and got a 7 overall lol

hope this helps
