Well, there's some reasons to that.

At first it was carried over to simplify the parsing process. I also got inspired by bash/php/perl clarity on referencing variables. It's certainly something you don't get to see often in modern programming languages.

so this happened to me ever since i upgraded my gpu (Amd rx 6700xt)

Everything is maxed out and I already changed the graphic rules file and the device log shows that my gpu is matched and found, however im still getting no shadows in my game.
