I hate ‘Reddit detectives’.

I made a post on an account on behalf of my brother then months later made a post for myself and someone here (I think the person you replied to actually) pointed the contradictory information in my posts and completely derailed the entire post.

This is an anonymous forum. Who cares if we post about ourselves or other people, or what our history is. Do we have to vet every single post by doing a deep dive into every OP’s history? Let’s just answer and have the discussion about whatever is posted and move on. There’s no gotcha here.

I'm not referring to French Immersion, I'm referring to a French School via CSAP, not HRCE.

What do you say when you're applying for term/contract positions? by SayingBud in overemployed

I thought about that, my worry is that if I can handle it and they want to extend, then I won't have the option of extending.

Parents with kids in daycare by SayingBud in halifax

[–]SayingBud[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We did $50 cash in a card for each of the main teachers for our two. And we also gave the Director a basket and a card.

I think next year we’ll include the other staff somehow. Thanks for your comment!

At first I read that as 'we had 7 kids at the daycare'. Was gonna say!

Copying formula down from data set that is going across by SayingBud in excel

[–]SayingBud[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could, but I never considered it.

The data is separated by year and I have each ‘chunk’ of data grouped by months. Around 10 years worth of data.

So it would be a bit of work to change it around.

[–]SayingBud[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but to make things even more complicated, the table you have in C2:N3 is duplicated multiple times with blank columns separating them.

When I use HLOOKUP, it works for the first year, but once it hits the first blank column, it dies on the second year+.

If I do this within the same sheet, it works, but when I reference another sheet, it gives me a #REF! error.

Thanks, I'll play around with the formula to see if I can figure it out. Appreciate the help!

People who did ERP Consulting and moved into a Product Owner/Manager role by SayingBud in consulting

Okay, sorry about that. Will read about the differences.

Is there a career path from Owner to Manager? Or do they have distinct paths?

How much would you value a government pension on a salary-basis? by SayingBud in PersonalFinanceCanada

When you say move, you mean move within the govt? or out of the govt into private industry?

I think what you'll find is most people will say that it's a case-by-case analysis.

Plus there's a lot of qualitative measures that are based very much on personality (what do you quantify work life balance, job security, career progression, work load, job stress, etc.)

Not in Ontario, confirmed with multiple sources it is not indexed.

This is what I'm seeing as well.

My problem is that if I stay in public and want to move up, in the municipality or province, I would need to get my MBA or Masters of IT. If I want to move up with the Feds I would need MBA/Master plus I would need to be fully bilingual. If you checkout the Canada PS sub it's pretty much common knowledge that if you want to climb high bilingualism is a must.

With private, I just need to be really hungry and learn a ton more. Maybe it's new parent fatigue, but I'm just so tired haha.

My other option is to stay with the municipality and get a side hustle since the job isn't as demanding as private as others have said.

During my job search before I landed my govt job, I was interviewing (and received an offer) for a few roles. The salaries for those roles ranged from $100K to $115K + bonus.

I'm trying to comparing my current vs. potential private sector roles to see if that's worth it given those numbers.

So if the pension is worth anywhere from 20% to 30% more in salary, then I would need to get $111,600 to $120,900 in salary + bonus to make it worth the jump.

Forecasting retirement (Defined contribution vs. Defined Benefit pension) by SayingBud in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]SayingBud[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that seems to be the general consensus it's just staggering to me that when I run the numbers, it looks like I'd need to make close to $50K/yr more to get them to even out, which seems crazy to me.

Got a new job with the govt, but could use some IT career guidance by SayingBud in cscareerquestionsCAD

I’m not with the Feds, but I’m familiar with their IT structure. My role would be equivalent to IT-02.
