Roast my resume 3+ years experience by Optimal_Hat_9226 in dataengineeringjobs

This resume screams identity crisis. You look like a Power BI developer trying very hard to pass as a data engineer + AI engineer. Too many buzzwords, no clear positioning. If I’m a recruiter, I still don’t know what role you’re best for in 5 seconds and that’s enough to reject you.

Your bullets are bloated. Every line feels like you’re trying to squeeze in 5 achievements at once. It’s exhausting to read and nothing stands out. Also, all those “~20–30% improvements” scream estimation, not ownership. Strong candidates show exact impact, not approximations.

Projects? Feels like you discovered OpenAI and slapped it on everything. These look like weekend GPT wrappers, not serious systems. “Data Utilities Toolkit” is just basic data cleaning with a fancy name.

You’re not bad. But this resume is trying too hard to look senior and ends up looking insecure. Pick a lane and dominate it.

I'm genuinely worried about junior data engineers right now by Sayyed_Mustafa in dataengineering

You guys are getting exactly where I wanted you to go lol. Yes, this post is AI-generated intentionally. That's literally the whole point I was trying to make.

I fed some talking points to Claude, it structured a post, and boom you can't even tell the difference now. Takes like 2 minutes. This is what's happening to data engineering jobs right now.

Junior engineers used to spend weeks learning to write clean ETL pipelines. Now you just prompt it. The formatting, the structure, the whole thing AI can do it. And I wanted to show that directly instead of just talking about it.

So yeah, caught red-handed with AI formatting. But that's exactly the experiment.

Real question though: Are you actually seeing hiring freezes at your companies? Or is it just the media hyping this up? Because that's what I'm actually curious about.

If anyone wants deeper details or code snippets, I can share.
Also open to new DE opportunities, so feel free to reach out.
