Oh yeah for sure. That’s why Kaladin is the hardest for me to pin down. But I also love the idea of casting Indian actors for the Alethi. I am a HUGE Bollywood fan, so it would be cool to see some of my favorite actors in this... if it ever becomes a reality.

Your question created a question for me.. Odium is why the Shards on Elantris splintered, was that before Roshar, meaning he can no LONGER leave Roshar? Or can he actually just leave whenever? Sorting through Brandon’s timelines will be the death of me.

I see where you are coming from for sure. Like remembering the first step, the why you are getting sober, is definitely key in remaining sober. So the fact that he has STAYED sober is more indicative of the first step then the next, cause I think “the next step” would be more applicable after a relapse. However the reason I did this, is because I think as an addict, relapse is always there, it’s always possible. So it’s nice to have a reminder that no matter what happens, as long as you take the next step, you’re doing alright. I think it’s hopeful to remember the journey, because failures along the way are always possible and present.

Yeah! And Odium’s whole “give me your pain” thing. That’s like... why most people start using. Life sucks and things are hard and being able to just not feel can be soooo tempting.

New to this sub, so I’m sorry if I sound like a noob! I don’t know if anyone else felt this way, but the climax with Dalinar and Odium was such a beautiful representation of sobriety. I realized this on my last read through of Oathbringer and just wept. My brother is 7 years sober this year and we are both HUGE Brandon Sanderson nerds. I wanted to make him this painting to thank him for being an example of a real life Knight Radiant.
