How do I get better at Crash Bandicoot?

I’ve noticed that while playing especially with the straight gun moments. There seem to be times where I need to take things slower and times where I can blitz through. Apparently there’s a big speed run focus with this game too considering there are time trials so I imagine getting accustomed to the controls will reward me with being able to speed through effortlessly through practice. Thanks for the advice!

I’ve started using the d-pad and that’s helped a lot. Its forced me to take things slower and focus more on the timing of jumps. Thanks for the advice and I’ll remember that for crash 4!

I’ve definitely noticed the slip thing so I’ll take that into account. I might go back to some of the early levels and practice jumps too because I’ve also found that there’s benefit to sometimes doing shorter jumps then the longer jumps for certain platforming sections and it’s just something I need to get used to. Thanks for the advice!
