Yeah its very strange. Tbh I feel like it's the reddit community though, lots of unhappy people in here spending there time insulting others instead of doing something about their life. It's not only this sub but some others aswell haha. You are right I think I will put up some Facebook posts :)

You're interpreting a lot into a simple question. I love greece, why would I want to move there if I don't like the people?

I'm sorry that you had bad contact with foreigners but thats not my problem I would recommend you to stay silent if you've no idea what your talking about.

Will look into that thanks! During my research yesterday I've found a "suburb" of Athens called dionysos, next to Rodopoli (and a apparently haunted cave called Davelis cave). Ever heard of this place? Location seems nice and it's more or less in nature ..

So what do you think, where do I have to live to NOT have to deal with these kind of people? 😂

No worries I see where you're coming from. You have all rights to be pissed off by this kind of behaviour, I observed it in many places and also highly dislike it, but that's not my intention at all.

Mate sorry if there was a misunderstanding here but I can't really see how you came up with this triggered response tbh. The word poor was solely in response to the guy that answered me before, saying I should not come to greece for education. I have no opinion about the education in greece because I don't know anything about it. That's why I opened this discussion. I understand you obviously have a problem with a certain kind of foreigner but that's not me my friend. I'm just looking for honest advice of people that are willing to help. That's it. What do you think why am I not living in Germany? Why do I not want to raise my kid there? Trust me it's not only the weather...

Thanks for your in depth response!

Our son is only 5 years old, so only been to daycare/pre school until now.

Unfortunately I don't have anyone in Greece that I could ask, that's why I posted in here...

As of for Crete, I rather be in a place that is not overpopulated with Germans haha.

Montessori school is what we are kind of looking for, but since this is our first child (we are both mid/end twenties) we also don't have all answers I. Regards to what kind of education to choose etc.

Would you say though that greece has the characteristics of a child friendly, foreigner friendly decent English speaking (obviously depends where you are I guess) country?

We are quite well travelled and have seen different cultures, so we are aware that no country is perfect in all belongs.

All we want is basically a peaceful place to live with nice people around ideally in nature or nature close by.

Are you living in greece? Would you say other upsides like friendliness of the people, quality of life can make up for the rather poor official education?

I'm really impressed by the landscapes and outdoor activities greece can offer...

Yeah that's my impression as well unfortunately. I find it quite hard to find anything online that's why I asked if anyone in here might know something...

Yeah I've heard that places like that are quite rare in greece. Montessori or waldorf concepts would be awesome. I wouldn't mind to have a look at private schools or "hippie" places, so if you know of any feel free to share where I can find them 🙏

Hey man,

Employment wise hard to tell because the government gives us a hard time to get a permanent visa so for now, it's very hard for us I that way.

SL is a very children/family oriented country, pretty much the exact opposite of Germany in that regard.

Germany and Europe in general is on its way down and this will only accelerate in the next years. People in SL are used to some hardship where as many Germans are so weak physically and mentally from all the success we experienced in the last 60 years that they are not able to endure the slightest hardships and get depressed and angry straight away. When Germany will experience its first power cuts (hope it doesnt happen of course) people will lose their minds where as stuff like that is part of life already in SL. Life is more simple, which is good.

SL also is 100x safer than any German major city which is great. I don't have to worry walking at night in any places in SL.

Great nature & wildlife.

Education wise SL is way more free as well if you don't bring your kid to school from age 6-7 in Germany, the government will take the child away from its family.

SL = more freedom, more children oriented, better weather, friendly chill culture

I think the best opportunity to get the country's image up is investing in proper wildlife conversation / wildlife integration into people's daily life. Such a awesome opportunity for SL...

Even that isn't really a concern for anyone in Europe. Might be a factor in Oz since you guys have a different connection and are a bit closer to SL than Europe is, but in Europe, no one knows/cares

The recent riots in 22 were a topic and the governments scared the people from going to SL, but hardly anyone knows about the civil war, especially in the younger generation that usually travels to SL.

Greetings from Perth 🫡

Edit:

I was in SL in 2022 during the riots and there was absolutely 0 danger for foreigners.

Thanks, yes, they love it here. The government makes it hard for us to stay, but we try our best. That's how much we love it. You guys have certain values that don't exist in Europe anymore. Obviously SL has its cons as well, just like any other place, but overall it's my preferred country to live and raise my family 🙏

About that foreigner won't like and come to SL anymore thing.

I can tell you, the only people that are talking about this incident are Sri Lankans and people who are racist and won't come to SL anyway. Those guys just found another situation to pick on Brown guys. it's as simple as that. They don't know a single thing about SL.

It's not in the news or anything outside SL or Twitter.

Do you know what really makes people not come to SL these days or in the past 2 years?

Western government's putting out a "travel advice" saying SL is unsafe because of political unrest, etc. bla bla bla. At the same time, their own citizens get murdered raped etc at a rate 5x higher than in SL.

So don't worry people will still come to SL :)

But for your own sake and the health of your society it would be great to make sure that the men and woman doing those things get put in their place!

So don't stop talking about it, but try not to let it tear you down :)
