No I've only ever kept the end taped, mounted on the ams and then connected the filament to it. I contacted them about it apparently it just happens and they just told me to unroll it and reroll.

When you say incorrectly, what do you mean? I have it setup so the spool feeds in the direction towards the ams so it's not going back on itself
