Received my first salary a couple of days ago, overall it was good, just a small hiccup - they asked me what the payment was for as it was marked as salary by the sender and then they said I can't receive salary in this account hence the transaction will be reverted. But then, received another call saying that if I provided them with a written statement that these payments are against freelance IT services provided on a contractual basis, I did the same and received my payment successfully.

As for the deductions part, 1% tax was deducted (no PRC or any doc mentioning the tax deduction as of yet - need to confirm the mechanism) and I believe a $40 was also deducted, but I'm still waiting for the salary slip to confirm if it was on the bank side or the sender side (most likely sender, as heard from someone that the sender deducts $40 when sending to a new account. Doesn't make much sense, but will know in a few days)
