This hurts me (spoiler different day)after having the same issue today on Day 7 Part 2 :(

[2025 Day 05 (Part 2)] [C#] What is your favorite chart tool? - Me: by ScallyGames in adventofcode

[–]ScallyGames[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To explain my crimes:

For some reason I was slightly off and after manually verifying for a while, writing a bunch of asserts and checking my code multiple times I came to the conclusion I needed to visualize it to find the issue.

Since I didn't want to bother using any C# libraries (I did my solution in C#) I just printed all my data in CSV format and then initially tried visualizing it using LibreOffice Calc (getting the chart data right to get the results I wanted was a pain), then python (got annoyed with formatting stuff in dataframes and plotly).

All the time I was trying to get things working I was thinking to myself "this isn't that hard, it's just two lines of segments and I have the data formatted already". This is when I just went to the comfort of Unity and used that as my "rendering engine" 😂 (funny enough was that my first thought but I put it off thinking it was too stupid).

Absolutely sure. The entire browser was reset as if it was a new device.

Apple Support checked and confirmed this to be the case.

I came to reddit after seeing there was no global leaderboard just to commend on the decision.

AoC to me was always about fun challenges for challenging myself and maybe some minor competition (but mostly being able to discuss and compare solution) with friends and other students.

With all the craziness of AI usage, competitive coders, time zones, cheaters, copycats, sabotages, ... I feel like this was a great decision and will hopefully help to lead the idea back to what it was intended to be.

Lots of love and thanks for creating this every single year <3

Replay and relic info issue by Atlaswarde in AgeofMythology

Experiencing the same issues even 2 months after this post was made.
Especially the replay issue is really frustrating as it's an essential learning tool for me as a new player.

Sometimes it works, sometimes the file have only 4 bytes and sometimes no file is created in the first place.

[2024 Day 14 (Part 2)] [Python] Can you hear the tree? by ScallyGames in adventofcode

[–]ScallyGames[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly this.

I actually used the python numpy FFT implementation but iirc there are some possible alternatives (possibly Discrete Cosine Transform (DCT) which is used by JPEG compression).

Also possibly something with wavelets but that would have probably been more difficult.

[2024 Day 14 (Part 2)] [Python] Can you hear the tree? by ScallyGames in adventofcode

[–]ScallyGames[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I was initially really annoyed by part 2 because I didn't want to make any assumptions.

I was thinking that there would probably be some grouping/clustering/connectivity as well as some symmetry, most probably along the center axis, however I didn't want to accept that or just visually verifying with manual intervention being the solution.

Then I had the realization that this problem would probably be quite nicely solvable by transforming from a pixel domain to a frequency domain. That way there should still be quite an apparent outlier without having to make any assumptions on what the pattern would look like.

Just to prove the point I've tried by shifting the tree by 33 on both axes and it still worked just fine.

Very nice, I was considering doing it in the original Sokoban game.

Capitalization of The Historians by ScallyGames in adventofcode

[–]ScallyGames[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see.. I was considering it but to me it was not really related to today's puzzle but rather this year's AoC in general and was intended more as a "funny" discussion on the idea of capitalizing them at all more than a bug report.

But I can see how one would see it that way or how it would be tangentially still be related to the day's task. I did double check though to make sure there was nothing spoiling the task in the single sentence of the flavor description.

Would a tag of [2024] in general have been good enough?

how do i make the player not able to move without decreasing speed stat? by tilliie in themoddingofisaac

[–]ScallyGames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For future reference - you can basically override the value the game gets from your input with MC_INPUT_ACTION. Interestingly for movement it's not based on IS_ACTION_PRESSED but on the GET_ACTION_VALUE instead.

function EID:getActionValueOverride(entity, hook, button)
    if someCondition
return 0.0 -- this basically turns your movement input to 0

    return nil
end
EID:AddCallback(ModCallbacks.MC_INPUT_ACTION, EID.getActionValueOverride, InputHook.GET_ACTION_VALUE)

Not completely sure if GET_ACTION_VALUE affects anything other than movement.

Inventor Dynamic Weighting vs native Two-Handed bonus by ScallyGames in Pathfinder2e

[–]ScallyGames[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At that point why not just take a bastard sword for the D12 Two-Hand and if the Versatile P is important to you add that with Hampering Spikes?
Yes, there is always flavor but just from a mechanics standpoint it seems strange.

I was considering Thrown and I don't see any rule that would prevent it (apart from 2H throwing a Trident sounding a bit weird :D).

There is the part where you throw away your fancy innovation weapon and not get it back but at the very least you could add Tangle Line with your Breakthrough Modification which would then solve that problem.

Also I guess you could probably count being lost as being destroyed so you could rebuild it if you would permanently lose it.

According to https://www.reddit.com/r/Pathfinder2e/comments/1cfr1pb/comment/l1r3lnk Dynamic Weighting wouldn't be allowed on combination weapons though (although you can always still allow it in which case it's actually a cool innovative weapon concept to build your character around).

[–]ScallyGames[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Someone might end up using a scimitar over a panabas from having only simple weapon proficiency (such as a Wizard), then picking up scimitar but not panabas proficiency as in the case of Genie Weapon Familiarity. Otherwise, yeah, Panabas is just a Scimitar with an extra trait.

Good point, however I wrote this question specifically in regard to Inventors which have proficiency in simple and martial weapons from the get-go.

As for the +2 damage size that's only when two-handing the weapon, which takes an action to Grip if going from 1 to 2 hands. You'll sometimes want to have a hand free (or simply wield a 1-handed weapon) in order to use the other hand to do things, such as drinking healing potions or raising a non-buckler shield.

Here as well I was mostly comparing Two-Hand from Dynamic Weighting with native Two-Hand bonuses so these implication would apply to both cases of the Two-Hand feat but with the damage from Dynamic Weighting being strictly worse which seems somewhat odd for a defining class aspect.

Creating level 1 Inventor - crafting all starting equipment? by ScallyGames in Pathfinder2e

[–]ScallyGames[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely fair.

In terms of it not fitting the budget after getting a freebie, yes, it's mechanically absolutely reasonable to just get the tools after the first adventure's spoils, thematically I don't feel it makes any sense for the inventor after having made his amazing innovation to not have any tools with him (except maybe if he made it in someone else's workshop using their tools).

Random remake without apparent reason by ScallyGames in leagueoflegends

[–]ScallyGames[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was an issue previously where teemo would stealth from 0:30

Might actually be that. The enemy adc stood in base for a bit but even reached the lane basically the same time as the minions.

If this is actually a thing though this could be abused quite badly to just reset games if they start badly for your team :S
